🏈 So I've checked out the TideSports forums...

Not to speak ill of other Bama forums, but I hold a sort of grudge to Tidefans. I signed up in November and got "suspended" in December for absolutely no reason. It was really hilarious, and I was really confused. But I got over it. ;)
That's the reason I joined here, I just looked around till I found one I liked. ;)

TideSports, never visited them, probably never will now.

Every forum, whether it's a PTP forum or free (BTW, PTP=Pay To Post/Premium) has its own "mentality." Everyone has their place, it's just a matter of finding the right forum to vent.

I know just about every board owner that runs Bama sites...and, just like in life, we all see things differently. I won't attempt to excuse behavior from any fan, Bama fans included. That said, I won't attempt to forget behaviors I've seen around the web over the last 15 years of being in the message board "industry."

You've heard the expression that goes something like "you don't get the opportunity to make a first impression the second time you meet someone?" It's something like that...

Same goes with 'net personalities...I don't tend to forget them.

Duder. You'll find as many radicals and stupid posts on any team's forums...just so happens, you didn't dip you toes in the water to see what it felt like...you jumped in head first.

Oh I was warned. But it is like somebody telling you not to look down, or don't push this button--you have to just to see if it is really that bad.

Years back I was similarly warned about gridscape, one of the viles vilest forums. Suffice it to say I couldn't stay away any more than I could sit around not thinking about bananas. I did manage to get the boot though, for questioning some of their academic practices in the late nineties.

not really sure what makes this forum click.. the mods seem to be alot more involved in the threads maybe.. there have been very few threads where terry, porter, or doe didn't chime in to add their opinions.. this place was a pretty busy forum when i first started reading here too.. i have really enjoyed being a member here.. it's the first place i come for the latest news, or if i have a question about football.. maybe things will pick up around here again since the bama nation is "hungry" again..

I'll have to agree with 4th and 1. This is by far the best BAMA board bar none.

Thanks guys !!!

This is the only Bama board I've bothered actually using. I come here to talk with Bama fans, I go there to laugh at "those fans". Yes, I'm aware there are some lackluster Auburn boards as well.

I will say this forum has changed over the years as well. I joined here a few years ago and got tired of reading "shut up Barner scum" blah blah blah, to everything I posted. I came back around last season and those people seemed to be gone. It turns out they've all flourished over at TideSports

There was literally a thread the other day where one of the mods banned an Auburn person for having an opinion. Nothing offensive, nothing overtly supportive of Auburn--just different than the others in the post. To be frank, I'm not sure he was an AU fan. They called him one and banned him.

Hmm, what forum? That's kind of what happened with me at Tidefans. They called me an Auburn fan and a few days later I was banned. :lance:
Even though I'm a loyal Bama fan, of course. ;)

By the way, you're an Auburn fan? (Get out of here!!!!!)

You were banned for being an Auburn fan? I find that hard to believe. I've had my run ins with a couple of the mods over there but they usually don't ban unless you've thumbed your nose at their rules.

I actually have no idea why I was banned, I never broke any rules at all. Just seems to be the idea I get.
Before that, I said something "good" about Auburn, and next time I signed in my avatar was an Auburn logo. I found that very offensive. =X But I didn't say anything about it, then one of the mods confessed to it the next time I said something about Auburn, and then I was banned the next day.
I then sent a PM to an Admin as the "ban" message told me to, never got a response, except for my PMing privileges being taken away.
I've certainly given up on that site. ;)

Captain, you'll find we are very forgiving in regards to banning people. If you piss someone off, there's a good chance you are going to be publicly lynched by our members (without breaking rules, of course) before we ever take action. See Dabaxter.

This is one of the more tolerant boards I've been to at an admin/moderator level. And there are enough posters here that are insightful and able to display a modicum of objectivity for me to call it my favorite college football related online "community."

Earlier in the year at an Auburn board, not too dissimilar to this one, I was labeled a 'Bammer for saying that if Newton was declared ineligible by the NCAA then Auburn would have no choice but to declare him so.

I was also lambasted on that same board recently for having the nerve to claim that I find it infantile to wish ill upon an 18 year old kid because he changes his mind and wants to play football at a different school after making a non binding commitment that he was likely pressured into making.

The one constant in the SEC is that every school has large % of their fanbase that are completely irrational and way overzealous.

Wow, you are the bravest and most hardcore auNeck fan I have ever communicated with on any medium.

You have character and style and mean what you say and say what you mean and you, unlike the riff raff, are not overzealous or irrational.

I'm sorry the meanies called you a 'Bammer and I hope you are never called a 'Bammer again.

You seem to have brought some sanity to this board and are laying down proper guidelines as to how message board participants should conduct themselves.

If you don't mind, I am going to just watch you perform your magic here, for us 'Bama fans, and try to learn from you the proper way to behave and carry myself while online.

Altie ( I don't care what an auNeck says, Nick Saban is a facking defensive genius) McDaniel
