🏈 So I'm just thinking here...

West Virginia. No defense, plays teams with no defense. = HEISMAN FOR GENO!
Seriously, CBSSports thinks they should just engrave his name on it already.

Uhm.. in two weeks they have to travel to Texas Tech. The #1 defense in the country. (From playing nobodies, but still, who has WVU played? Nobody)

They've only played one team with a defense that was in the top 100 this year and that was Maryland. They struggled. Every other game? "Geno for Heisman!!" Against a >100 total defense ranking, but no one cares to mention that.

Just wondering what you all think. I think WVU may come out with a win but it will be ugly. Baylor, after yesterday's 70-63 loss to WVU, dropped to 123rd in total defense. I believe they were 107th coming into the game. What a laugh.
I would absolutely enjoy watching Texas Tech beat up WVU, though, don't get me wrong. A friend of mine is a big Tech fan so I kind of have a place for them from time to time.
I'd also love to see the sportswriters scramble to come up with an explanation as to why "Geno looked so bad against Texas Tech" "but he'll bounce back!!"
I can just see it now... ugh.

Now of course, I have to give a bit of credit to the WVU offense and, yes, Geno Smith. They have a good football tea--offense, but that's all. I would not want to be on either side of their ball if they were to face Bama.

They also travel to Texas and play them next week, but I think they'll win that one easier than against Tech. Still, would love to see either one of them show WVU what a defense is.

Like you, I'm looking forward to watching WVU as the season progresses. I too want to see them play a good defense.

Yet, I can't disagree with anyone who says Geno has the Heisman to lose at this point. Perhaps it is premature.

As long as I've been watching football I don't ever recall seeing a QB have a rating of 248.00 in a game. Much less have more TD's than completions.

A complete side step of the conversation, but relevant in a way. I wonder why we aren't hearing more talk of the job Conner Shaw is doing at UofSC. In the last two games, he's 35 for 39. Pretty damn good in his own right.

BTW Capt.

The thread over on the LSU forum about the refs...it's an annual tradition on that forum. You'll see it every year during the season just like you'll see the white helmet threads on Bama forums.

Oh, he really did that well? Not bad.. at all.

I admit Smith is doing a very good job for WVU and their offense, but really, they are going to suffer a terrible loss sometime this season. Whether it's against TTech or a team with a defense in a bowl game, or another random regular season game.
It's going to be awful for them, but maybe, just maybe, someone will explain that simple little word to them. It just made me sick watching the highlights from that game. Every other play was a long TD pass.

And yeah, haha, I guess it is. Still can't resist replying to a few of those posts.
