Snow in BDS
e Super 7 football championships drew fewer fans in nearly a decade, thanks to an historic snow fall Friday.
Snow began falling Friday morning and threatened to postpone the championship tripleheader at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, but AHSAA officials opted to play on despite the weather.
Friday's session of championship games for Classes 2A, 4A and 6A drew just 11,659 fans, according to attendance figures provided by the AHSAA, and the three-day total of 35,921 is the lowest since the AHSAA moved to the three-day format in 2014. Attendance had grown in each of the last three years.
