Up by that much, against Arkansas State, and a fake field goal? By his reaction you'd think he'd called this with a minute left down by 2 against UGA.

A people talk about Freshwater and his touchdown calls?

LSU ran the same fake a few years ago. Sometimes you run a play just to make teams prepare against it. I doubt they'll run it again this year.
Yea, but LSU didn't run it again that type of team.

The local talking heads took upfor him by stating that the barn needed this play,to get their mojo back.

Go tamu.
If you have to get that mojo again a less team, than you already lost.

In 2010 when they ran that there was less than a minute left in the fourth quarter, they were down by three, and it was fourth and three. That fake gave them a first down and the eventual win—against Florida.

It's Auburn. Run by a team with its coach on the hot seat. He needs the fans to get excited about the team and their status.

Is it the way they scored or that they tried to score. Any different from Barnett throwing a long TD pass against USC when Alabama was up by ~40?

I don't have an issue with a backup QB running our offense to be honest. I recall a backup QB throwing a TD up 29-0 against the Barn in '08 at our place. It finished off old Wingnut!

I take issue with a team up big and pouring it on with their starters in an attempt to pad stats. It also pisses me off when a team is up big and is deliberately taking the air out of the ball and the defense thinks they have to burn all of their timeouts while looking for that 1 play that will produce 30+ points in less than a minute. I recall as an OC and deliberately running the ball to take the air out and seal the win while up 36-0. The opponent started taking timeouts, not to sub some guys in to get playing time that they normally wouldn't see, but trying to save some time on the clock. Problem was, 3 plays had netted 2 first downs and burned all of their timeouts. It pissed me off, so I called a "go route"! 70 yards later, we won 42-0!! Their coach wanted to get pissy but I exclaimed, "Don't call all of your damn TOs while down 30+ and that won't happen!" My AD came up afterward and asked why I did it and when I explained I got, "That will teach his ass!"

I kinda laughed when I saw the end of the video and good old CGM gave his signature BOOM... like it was some big play in a critical moment vs a HUGE opponent.

I don't mind the call so much, but when you're playing your scout team.... it seems a bit silly to get that excited as a coach.

I believe you use a fake field goal, fake punt or on side kick when in dire need and maybe use once in the whole season. Got to capitalize on the unexpected. After using it once, every team you play after will be on alert.

Considering about 14 of the starters for ASU were sick... au got fortunate to win that game so big. I know the score doesn't reflect it, but ASU played them pretty well until the depth / Talent flood gate burst. I think had they had all their players healthy... the game would have gone much deeper into the 3rd quarter before au could put them away.

As it was, it took a magical pitch/run for a long TD, a magical catch for 42 yds, and a fake field goal to get out in front to a point that ASU gave up... I'll be interested to see if aTm puts a wooping on good old Gus this weekend...

Is that the one where the holder flipped it back, it hit the ground and then actually bounced right into the kicker's hands? They should get bonus points for that.
