This is an interesting and unexpected twist, at least to me. Wonder if the PTB have anyone in mind, or if this was mutual, or did CSC resign own his own & unexpectedly?

I would guess he was told to make staff changes, and chose to resign instead. His staff, overall, was the worst in the SEC.

A couple of things going on around Starkville.

One, you are right about the changes. That has been suggested and it first started around a month ago. Some of the PTB's around MSU had even gone to the point of talking with Borges behind the scenes about taking over for McCorvey.

Secondly, the Athletic Director when he was hired, Larry Templeton, is no longer in that position and he was probably Croom's most staunch supporter. (it's worth noting that their new AD, Greg Byrne, is the son of the Texas A&M AD...a family fairly well known in coaching circles)

Then, add to that, they are in the process of moving to a new school president as well. Their old Pres resigned abruptly, then their interim did as well a few months ago...a lot of shake ups around there now.

With all that being said, maybe MSU will hire ole turst, love and commitment Fran. Just a thought.

That's very interesting......and very ironic if true.....that CSC, who has been very bitter about the hiring of Mike Shula over him, would fall victim to the same thing that got Mike fired. cool8)

That is what I have heard around here as well. Also everything TerryP said is spot on to what I have heard around here the last couple of weeks too.

LSU fans are pretty convinced this morning that this means that DT Josh Boyd will end up at LSU. :?

I coached against Boyd when he was a sophomore, we won but he played a good game. I knew then he was going to be something special.
