🏈 Since we're talking about who takes Phil Savage's place on the radio broadcast, who actually listens to the radio as their source for Bama football?

I listen to the pre-game, usually as I'm grilling or driving out to my parents house
There's the thing with me...

How many early kicks do we see now? One per year? So, if I wanted to listen to the pregame it's going to be then--there's football on at any other time.

Then there's the conflict of the live shows in the mornings....between all the channels there's always something that's going to catch my attention (outside of doing things here.)

So, on one hand there's no 'time' to listen to the Alabama pregame. And two, there's really nothing that I'm going to hear I don't already know.

Then again...

What do I know? I liked Verne, I like Gary, even Jesse doesn't get on my nerves. Give me a Saturday night with Beth Mowins calling the action and I've no issue.

I also have a setup outside in case there is a good game going on while grilling. Then again, the last two years my ritual has completely changed because I'm either at Troy covering a game or going to Bama to cover the game. Last year I was home for pretty much everything after October though considering I broke my leg lol

10 years.

There have been games against SEC teams, Saturday afternoons, that I've played cornhole during the game among other things. TV is within sight, but it's a different Saturday now than it's been: even under Stallings.

'Course you told me a month or so ago I was old. Dunno.

@sk33tr,

Consider...

People bitched about Verne because he missed names and was slow sometimes. Ever heard anyone accuse her of such?

(She is a REALLY good friend of our softball program. That carries weight on my judgment scales.)

i honestly don't know what it is...but something about here just....i can't stand listening to her. i'm not saying anything against her as a person since i don't know her personally. i'm sure she's very nice. but when she's doing commentary, i just can't listen to her for some reason.

vern was a whole other animal himself. his voice, his inflections, his getting names wrong CONSTANTLY are what drove me to dislike him. again, i'm sure he was as nice enough guy, but that doesn't mean i have to like him calling Alabama games. at least Gary played the game and has some actual insight into how the game is played and what plays are probably coming up.

but when i'm at home, i don't care who's on the tv; i have the radio on listening to Eli and...whoever they get to replace Phil. i have always and will always prefer the radio play-by-play from our own guys over who's on the tv.

i know some people didn't care for Tyler Watts when he did the ppv games. i know him personally and he's a great person (along with his family). but i know that some people don't/won't like him and it has nothing to do with him personally, they just didn't like him calling games. which i never understood since he played at Alabama and, like Gary, understands the game.

i wish we could have Eli and Chris in the booth with Tyler down on the field. to me, that would be an awesome combination.

I been telling you that a lot longer than a month ago :hyper:

I listen to Eli if I'm at home during the game and usually don't even sync it with the TV. I'll admit that pisses some people off who watch the games with me.

Dude that is AWFUL. There is absolutely nothing worse than hearing about a touchdown or turnover a good 2 seconds before it actually happens on TV.
Lol, yeah I know. 99% of the time the only people there will be my wife and daughter. I have compromised and moved my recliner behind their seats so they can’t see my reactions.
I can’t watch a Bama game with anyone that’s not an Alabama fan.

I have posted about this before... It is free share ware and works great ! I use it for every game that I do not attend in person.
DaanSystems - Radiodelay
Gets the radio broadcast in sync with the TV picture and sends the game audio out to my surround sound. It can also be pretty entertaining to listen to a radio commercial while watching the TV commercials.
Roll Tide!!!!!!
Is it September yet!!!!!!

I listen to the radio for 3-4 games per year. Usually the lower level games.

I don't have cable, and sometimes going to someone else's house isn't on my agenda.

I certainly prefer the radio broadcast. The delay is annoying.

Kudos, this may come in handy.

We normally have all the friends and fam over and wait till the weather gets a little cooler and do it up outside for the big games,I have a HD projector and a 100 inch blow up screen, an extra receiver and extra pair of home theater speakers.... Eli on the pregame and postgame, and celebrations and lock room interviews after. Great way to watch the game!
