You said that the Jordan brand pays more for sponsorships. Looking at current sponsorship pay compared to previous sponsorship pay doesnā€™t mean anything. Prices go up. Whoever gets Alabamaā€™s uniform and shoe sponsorship next will pay more than Nike is currently paying. Even Nike will pay more than Nike is currently paying. Jordan brand paying more than Nike did for Oklahomaā€™s uniform and shoe contract is just response to the market conditions.

OU was under contract. They were moving to the next one. Three sports went Jordan brand. The others remained the same; Nike brand. For those three sports Nike paid them a bonus to move to Jordan instead of just wearing Nike.

The way it was described it wasn't a re-negotiation or a bid. It was a promotion; in both senses of the word.

And the only way they could do it is because they were dealing with corporate Nike. Oklahoma said, ā€œokay, you want us to wear Jumpman, then pay us to switch.ā€ Oklahoma had the upper hand.

You're out of touch. It's ok. I know enough about both to know Jumpman is rhe one brand that could push Alabama to even a higher level than Nike. You in fact are showing you know nothing about either because you haven't proven Jumpman can't bring us more money when multiple people have told you it would, and that they pay programs more. Every brand pays more for business when a contract is up. Nobody pays less. If (fill in the blank) wanted Alabamaā€™s business, they would pay more than Nike is currently paying. But youā€™re so obtuse you think that Jordan has more money to spend.

I mean, after all, you seem to think they're the same thing and Nike means more, so answer why you think Oregon would do something like that? Because it's a statement. Do I even need to link North Carolina? I may not know the inner workings of a Wall Street firm, insider experience with Berkshire Hathaway, but this is one thing I can say with certainty that I know this piece of business and the allure this brand has with the current generation. Not to mention all of us that grew up during Jordan's run with the Bulls are older, with money, and have kids we would love to put in the Jordan's. And boom, you have a massive market. Jordan will pay, it will always be around, and if Nike goes under I can assure you Jordan will still be a name. Jordan may not have survived without Nike in the 80's and early 90's, but it's it's own deal now and can survive.
 
Oregon is tied to Nike and Jordan due to Phil Knight. Have you heard of him? He was a former runner at Oregon and a founder of Nike (and their Jordan brand). Knight has donated more than $2 billion to Oregon outside of Nike sponsorships. Knight has promised unlimited funding of Oregonā€™s NIL efforts. If Phil Knight wants a school to wear Nike or Jordan, he will make sure it happens. As for UNC, we all know Jordan played there and thereā€™s a tight connection. If Jordan wants UNC to wear Jordan brand, Phil Knight will make it happen. BTW, Nike pays UNC an average of $6.27 million per year. That includes about $3.4 million per year in cash. Product & Apparel: The university receives a significant annual wholesale product allotment, averaging around $2.87 million. Licensing & Scholarships: A minimum of $600,000 per year is allocated for licensing revenue, which the university uses for need- and merit-based scholarships. Other Benefits: The deal also provides retail product for non-athletic department use and includes opportunities for Nike internships. Jordan brand payments to UNC are included in the Nike funding, not separate, so itā€™s impossible to determine that Jordan pays more. I would imagine that other schools wearing Nike and Jordan would have a similar arrangement.
