🏈 Sims Gone From UV

Coach London said "you have to go to class!" Grades kill more talented kids in jr high and high school than we ever get to see in college. In my 13 yrs of coaching, I saw several with the talent but not the maturity to handle the classwork. Phillip was definitely the most talented on the UVA roster.

Yep seen it personally too. Im sure alot of yall know the name Don Horsetead. Played tailback at Bama for Bear Bryant, his brother Ted broke every rushing record at Troy. I grew up with Ted's son, Todd and there was no question from ANYONE around here that Todd was by far the most talented of the bunch. He had his first 1,000 yard season when we were Freshman. Literally all of us were still playing on the JV team and he's the starting Tailback for the Varsity. Smart as hell too but he absolutely HATED school, I mean he couldn't stand it. I cant remember the times when I would be walking to lunch and I'd see Todd walking towards the parking lot. He'd say "I'm gettin outta here, wanna come?" and when I say I got class he would just say he'd see us at practice. He ended up getting kicked off the team after the coaches couldnt pull anymore strings so he dropped out (literally football/basketball were the only reasons he EVER went). So much talent just threw away.
