I know we lost our center, but I see no improvement week to week. OL coach in the hotseat?
Special Teams; 2 converted fake punts, several bad holds and missed pat or 3 pt opportunities
Offense; Slow to adapt to opponents gameplan, not very creative at times…

Am I just being too critical?

I think we have a lot on here that will tell you "YES". I do think it will be up to CNS to do any charging! Unless one or more go to coach at another school?

No I think we all are critical at sometime or another.

I can appreciate the impulse but I am not ready to say that.

The Defense, for the first time all season, was flying to the ball. They seemed much more instinctive on their responses. I don't know what Golding was able to do to make things click this past week or if he simplified things but you could tell they all were much more aggressive with how they played last night.

The OL has been suspect all season. I think after the low snap Dalcourt was replaced by McGlaughlin & some short time after that Damieon George was replaced by Chris Owens. Those two replacements made a big difference. I'm not sure why it did but it did. Kuddos to whomever made those calls. And Evan Neal FINALLY started chewing a$$ in the 3rd quarter. The OL hasn't really had the Alpha, get in your face, & do your job leadership. Not anymore. Perhaps it has clicked with those guys that they will NOT get very far on just talent anymore.

Offensively, we tried to give this game away. Poor execution with dropped passes, penalties, low snap, fumbling long snap, even times Bryce Young was not very productive (lets face it, he was affected by the pressures... nobody is perfect). However, we should have stuck with running the ball more, we started to do that in the 4th quarter & we saw decent results. But when the last 2 minutes of the game came about this offense figured it out. Oh & welcome to the show Mr. Brooks. Hell of a TD catch. We need more WR's to step up like the 2017 class did. It's long overdue.

And to that point..... I hope the team has had an Ah-Ha moment with those guys that stepped up. In short, you will be replaced if you aren't getting it done. And when your name is called, go make it happen. It's time.

This team is what it is at this point. I for one expect changes. They are needed. The performances this year are well below the Bama standard and I believe below our talent levels.

I will give Goldin credit since he takes so much heat especially for games like last week and a few others this year. Until last week I thought they had turned the corner. With that said the Barn offense is not a powerhouse. If the D had not played as well as they did we would have had no chance. I still think with the performance we saw yesterday it is pointing to a locker room or coaching staff issues. I suspect both to some degree. The disgruntled players that have entered or thinking about entering the portal is a distraction. Their coaching performances have likely put them in job hunting mode already. I go back to one of the games this year where the cameras were showing O'Brian and he was visibly angry pounding on the desk. No idea what was being said but just wondering if Saban has done some chewing on him but since he has been the boss man for awhile that did not set will with him.

Point being what we saw yesterday simply does not add up. 68 yards in the first half that is historically bad offensively. Last weeks D performance points to the need for changes their also. All of this to say there will be and needs to be changes.

No doubt there will be changes in my mine anyway...

Too much talent to be dominated by a AU for 3+ quarters...
D looked great vs a wounded second string QB....just look back a couple games...

Oline looked like Shulas vs AU...a bunch years back...to much talent....

But 11-1....damn great season....and some exciting games...

I believe it's inevitable that we see some coaches move on at the end of the season. Yes, we lost a ton of talent and leadership and this team is young in many respects, but the product has not lived up to Saban's standard for this program and I believe a lot of that is coaching. The offensive scheme is atrocious. Just look at the NFL. Teams that still use the old offensive game model are now considered bad teams and are struggling to find offensive success. The league went crazy for teams with innovative offensive coordinators and coaches. Unfortunately our offensive coordinator is a leftover byproduct of a dying NFL system that he is using at BAMA. Hence the lack of creativity and inability to create mismatches with the tremendous amount of talent we have on this roster. He essentially ran 2 run plays the entire night. So yes, in my opinion, BoB must go and Saban knows this. Look for Saban to go after an innovative offensive coordinator the truly understand the X's and O's of COLLEGE football.

As far as the offensive line coach, I believe if there is an opportunity for him to move on to the NFL he will, but I don't believe our struggles are entirely his fault. We are a lot smaller and weaker with our o-line grouping this year. Additionally, we have not utilized our talent or developed them over the past several seasons. When we have games that we can play our 2nd and 3rd string players we go basic and just hand the ball off. There is a difference in playing time and garbage time. We have done a disservice to our younger players in doing this and it finally caught up with us. All of our younger players, including Damieon George, Kight, Seth and Brown should have been taking meaningful snaps last year in preparation for this year. Now, the inability to find the right grouping is on the coaches. I have long said this grouping is too small and very weak at the point of attack. The only player that has been consistent is O'Neal. The other 4 are consistently getting beat, blown up and pushed back. And I know these guys are trying to win and playing hard, but there comes a point when you have to realize your opponent is just better. Now, with training and player development this deficiency can be rectified but it will take time and dedication from the players and coaches.

As far as the defense, who knows? We are young in so many areas. I believe if this group sticks together and decide to return next year, then we will a more consistent product. Once again, we must get stringer and more physical on the defensive line and I think we are seeing promise with players like Tim Smith, Dallas Turner, Drew Sanders and several others. Our LBs just need time to adjust. Henry is new to BAMA and Harris has shown flashes of dominance. They just need to put it all together. Unfortunately, Harris is likely gone and we haven't given anyone else meaningful snaps for development. Hopefully Shane Lee, Kennedy and Blackshire will step up. I feel bad for Moody because this was his year and he was glanced over for Henry. Lastly, the secondary will be vastly improved. I feel it's more of a scheme and communication issue. Plus, Saban has plans on landings Harris, Jackson and Earl in this year recruiting class and those guys will play early and often.

Bama's special teams are under performing. Outside Will Reichard, this aspect of our team is noncontributory and inept. We must identify a punter and kick returners. 38 yard punt average is unacceptable. Ball State has a better average. The thought that we "stole" this guy from Ole Miss and gave him a scholarship is laughable. There are high school players with better averages. This is just poor scouting effort from our coaches. What happened to the transfer from Troy and Ty Perine? Finally, while i understand Slade is the safe answer, he posses no threat as a returner. Surely we have other options at this point and I'm not sold on Earle. Maybe it's not translating in games, but I don't see Waddle like tendencies other than their comparable stature. Hopefully the coaches can identify a Waddle or Trindon Holiday type on our roster.

It happens every year. Will CNS fire anyone? I doubt it. Being a coach on CNS’s staff will boost your resume to the top of the pile. CNS may encourage a departure, but other than Kiffin, what coach under Saban has been fired?

I expect the following coach to move on:
OC- BOB taking HC job if offered. Rumor is it that LSU may target him.... if Lincoln doesn't take the job.
Peter Golding- 50/50 he stays... Depends on how we do against Georgia and going forward.
Svoboda-I think he moves on.
Marrone- 99.99 he is gone.
Gillespie- He stays.
Kelly- 50/50 he stays, but Saban may want someone.. Secondary struggled all season.
Sunseri- He stays. Too old to be moving around. Could get promoted, if Kelly moves on.
Roach- He stays.
Valai- He stays.

Not sure who we target for OC: I don't see any good options out there. We need someone who knows how to call offense in a way that expolit mismatch opportunites... Mullin is very good at that... but is he commited ?

DC: Golding is good, but he needs help. Simpify the playcalling in off season. Saban/Golding could reach out to some people around the football word and see whats up.. Would be nice if we can steal someone from Georgia on their staff.

I’m as passionate a fan as anyone and I admit that I wanted to ā€œthroat punchā€ the offensive staff but I don’t think any of us are remotely qualified to assess anyone’s professional performance. CNS will or will not do what is necessary.
On a side note we are all qualified to bitch and moan ad nauseam.

With all this talk about coaching changes. Something I pondered during the struggle of a game we played yesterday.

Who are our analysts this year? Not any notable coaches going through the "Saban" rehab program this past year. Made me wonder how much of an impact those guys have had in previous years. Former coordinators and HC's giving different view points and perspectives.

I know this … the coaches we think need to go (I would fire several of them) and the coaches CS thinks needs to go won’t line up … and that’s a good thing. His take on it has seemed to work a bit better over the long haul than mine. I’m bad enough as an armchair QB … I’m horrible being an armchair head coach.

He keyed in on their best player, Bigsby. We still haven't solved our soft over the middle pads coverage, but I am really happy with how well they played last night. I think he just let them boys play ball, nothing crazy, nothing difficult, just let them play ball.

To answer the thread question, I think there will be one change. Not sure where, but there will be a change. I have no issues with O'Brien, but Golding is not good to me. Special Teams? Still can't figure why we aren't punting better.

I grageeatedd wit an ad nauzeum degree in spelin!

I honestly wouldn't mind BoB going, I don't expect him to get any offers, he's not a hot topic like people think he is. A lot of Bob playcalls are very telegraphed and down and distance (overpower the other team) kinda calls. We can't do that with a young team riddled with large gaps with injuries and an offensive line that is sturggling mightly and regressing if anything. I think Saban is a bit tired of his playcalling too, he had to a few times get him to call RPO, Run Plays, and Play Actions instead of being in spread all the time. Bryce Young has bailed this offense out all year, the man deserves a medal. Marrone likely gone, Oline has been awful as well most of the year, between missed assignments and just poor hand-offs/switches on stunts they look like high-schoolers out there. Also worries me that the Freshman are so bad they can't beat out these guys, that scares me for future years.

I would be surprised if Golding is at another HC spot somewhere next year, he's been solid all year. Yea Texas A&M wasn't his greatest game but 1 bad game can be forgiven easily enough.

As far as others, not sure much else changes.

Let me preface this with, I don't know crap. But from the confines of my leather couch in Inverness..........BoB is not too bad IMO. It is the O line that has been horrible. If they could block (either way run/pass) we would be amazing. If Bryce had a pocket that Mac had last year, could you imagine what he could do to an opposing defense? B Rob is like Barry Sanders circa the 1990's Lions. Hit behind the LOS 3 out of 4 plays. If our O-line could play better, the game on Saturday against UGA would be right up there with the 2012 LSU game as the Game of the Century.
