... and it has nothing to do with Bama—well, mostly.

Understand, I'm a fan of how 'Cuse plays basketball. I think Boeheim is a heck of a coach with faults, mind you. But, this notion I'm hearing about them getting an exCuse due to Boeheim's suspension—and the resulting losses—flies in the face of common sense.

Seriously? NCAA sanctions are going to be ignored in a NCAA sanctioned event?!?!

On a SEC note, and somewhat Bama related ...

We all recall Bama being left out of the dance due to a weak OOC schedule resulting in a weak SOS ranking. Now, if UF is left out and UofSC gets in for the SEC? We can take everything we've heard about OOC schedules, RPI, and strength of schedule and dismiss is as bullshit.

Take UofSC as an example. They've played two, TWO, games against teams currently ranked in the top 50. They split those games. Yes, they have recorded 23 wins on the season with a SOS of 125th: an RPI of 64 (normally would have a team left out.)

Take UF as a comparison. Florida's SOS is ranked #18 and non-conf SOS is #5.

BuckleUp and prepare to be ...

SEC Bubble resumes:

Vanderbilt: RPI 61
Record vs top 50: 2-7
Record vs top 100: 5-3
SOS: 37

South Carolina: RPI: 64
Record vs top 50: 1-1 (yikes)
Record vs 51- 100: 7-4
SOS: 125 (yikes)

Georgia: RPI 63
Record vs top 50: 0-6 (yikes)
Record vs 51- 100: 6-6
SOS: 24

Alabama: RPI 74 (yikes)
Record vs top 50: 3-6
Record vs 51- 100: 4-5
SOS: 36

Florida: RPI 55
Record vs top 50: 2-7
Record vs 51- 100: 5-6
SOS: 18

Terry, great post. Bama lost three of its games to one highly ranked team. That's the difference in 21-11 and 18-14. If the Tide had played a poor team instead, Bama would be in the dance. I wonder if SOS isn't just an easy excuse.

Simply looking at the numbers and a killer point by Chief losing to Kentucky three times, really makes us look like a tournament team. Now we know if you score over 65 points against uS you'll beat us, but still, our numbers stack up against any other last four in and first four out.

Not that it really affects anything, but I would have had Michigan State and Villanova as 1 seeds instead of Virginia and Oregon,

Have to wonder about Aggies being a 3 seed and UK a 4.

Creighton
RPI - 103
SOS - 95
Wins(RPI 1-50) -2
vs. RPI Top 100 - (3-11)
Last 12 - (4-8)

Alabama
RPI - 70
SOS - 28
Wins(RPI 1-50) -3
vs. RPI Top 100 - (7-11)
Last 12 - (7-5)

WTF, can someone please explain to me why we are on the road in this game ??

I'm guessing the mediocre crowds we had when we got home court advantage a couple years ago?

NIT has to make dem dollas too, I guess.

Creighton boast a very talented and experienced squad. Actually kind of surprised they didn't do so well this year, seeing as how they have a solid front court with a 7-foot center who can dominate the paint.

We had bad attendance last year vs Illinois because Grant had just been fired and no one wanted to see the team fail.

Now when we made it when we went undefeated at home, Coleman was sold out every NIT game and for most of the home games throughout the year. The NIT game vs Maryland was actually close to a sell out and was one of the loudest games I've been too.

Michigan State deserved it IMO, but Nova has proven to be a joke in the NCAAT as of late and hasn't made it past the sweet 16 since 09- which they made the final four that year.

And while I do believe State deserved the #1 seed over Oregon (won a very tough conference, beat teams like Kansas and Louisville in OOC), people shouldn't overlook what Oregon has done and their potential to make a elite 8- final four run.
