TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's basketball team will be the No. 10 seed in the 2019 Southeastern Conference Tournament and will play seventh-seeded Ole Miss on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network.

The winner of Thursday's contest will advance to take on No. 2-seeded Kentucky in Friday's quarterfinals.

The Tide (17-14, 8-10 SEC) and Ole Miss (20-11, 10-8) squared off once during the regular season, with Alabama capturing a 74-53 victory back on Jan. 22 inside Coleman Coliseum. It was UA's largest margin of victory in SEC play this season.

Alabama owns a 5-2 advantage when taking on the Rebels in the SEC Tournament. The last time the two teams met in the postseason was March 10, 2016 when the Tide captured an 81-73 victory.

This year's tournament will be held March 13-17 in the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.

It's a bracket that is a bit crazy depending on how you look at what might happen. There's a good chance the two programs most prominently mentioned in the FBI investigation have a chance of meeting in the semi-finals.

As I take another swing at this horse...

A 50% chance the SECT championship is vacated?

Can they turn it on?....
Beat 2 of top 4 seeds...
Welllllll,...

Kentucky IS beatable, as we've proven already.

Buuuuuut, that was only one of about 5 "mostly" complete games we've played this season. We went up big, collapsed late, but did just enough in the final 2 minutes to hold on at home.

Ken Pom has our odds of being one-and-done pretty large. Like, a 60% chance we do NOT make it past Ole Piss. That's BAD.

If we DO actually beat the LandRebelBearSharks, we have a 14% chance of beating KY.

Obviously you guys have not watched this team play recently. I doubt we win the first game and if we do there is no way we get past KY.
The only reason we beat them was it was early and if you watched that game we held on for dear life if two minutes had been added to the game we would have lost KY was coming strong at the end.

Yeah....what I was talking about...what the hell is this collapse thing....
Watch big leads dissolve because of STUPID play....LAZY shit....POOR At charity stripe.....MISSING easy shots.... NO offensive rebounding and its almost every game....
This team COULD be a contender.... I keep waiting for them to come together and put a 100% game together..... capable....i think....
Gotta be driving AJ and assistants crazy...I know its driving fans crazy...
Beat 2 of 4 top seeds...gave the other 2 top seeds games away...

The same thing happened last year we lost the last five regular season games. If it had not been for Sexton's miracle play we would have not made the dance. So barring that play CAJ would not have us in the dance in his four years. In my mind CAJ has made improvements over Grant we have beaten some ranked teams but is that enough. I think a hard look has to be taken as to where this program is headed.

JMO but the AD's hand will be tied (money reasons) and AJ will return next season. The same group of DA BOT members that approved of the buyout for Johnson will not pay the money to fire Avery. These people will wait and see what the Tide fanbase does next season just like they did with Grant.

I believe Bama, Mizzou, A&M, and Vandy are ready to put up the jocks and socks for this season.

I know we will have CAJ at least one more year. It is obvious to me that Pearl will out recruit and coach CAJ so if the powers that be are ready for the barn to own the state in BB then we will continue down this road.

Honestly, with as many hundreds of millions that flow thru our athletic department every year, 9 mill is sock drawer money.

It all depends on how serious the BOT is in making our basketball program as successful as its potential indicates it COULD be..

Sgt they ran 175 million thru the registers last year and only netted 15 million profit. Do they spend more than half of the profit to payoff the coach they thought was worth 9 million in buyout?

Avery is a proud guy. Some folks don't want to be where they aren't wanted. Once the season is over, I think Johnson will decide if he can stop the bleeding or it's time to go do something else.

We are about to see first hand just how serious the AD is about the basketball program. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what next year will look like with the current head coach. With the majority of players returning it's a good foundation for a new head coach to start building back the program. The AD needs to step up and make a major decision very soon.
