I don’t think Clemson brings enough to the table, they don’t bring a new state and while yes their football has been good lately they aren’t exactly proven a ton. I’d prefer a school in a new state to bring something to the table

That being said I pointed this out the other day and people laughed about it lol

I don’t believe it. Why would these schools leave?
There are several reasons I see but I'll start with one of the biggest in my view. They, like we in the SEC, are tired of smaller schools telling us what we can't do.

It's a step closer to separation; one thing that's definitely needed.

If you keep adding teams, there’s a point where multiple teams won’t be on TV (unless you start having 9 am games). If you can’t broadcast a game, you can’t get ad revenue. You don’t get ad revenue, the payout isn’t as big. Even with ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, some of the channels have a limited audience.

If the conference goes to more conference games, plus the recent home-and-home matchups, we can say goodbye to sports at smaller schools. Somebody’s kid isn’t going to get to go to college.

We're already seeing 9AM kickoffs with the PAC and Big12. There's several scheduled for the first games of this season as I recall.

Let's not forget ESPN+ here. They have their contracts with the smaller conferences.

If LHN falls under the SECN umbrella there's another network/channel option.

It's my opinion we'll see a game fall into the PPV genre' again: IE: Bama having one game each season that's only available on ESPN+ or PPV.

I agree and it's something I"ve been pointing towards for quite some time. The three hundred million dollar influx will help the SEC avoid such.

The 9 am Pac12 games are intended to get East Coast viewers (9 am PST = noon EST/11 am CST). Putting an SEC game at 9 am EST/CST means 6 am/7 am PST. Any exposure on ESPN+ is limited since a viewer needs to pay more to get it. What games would go on ESPN+? It won’t be marquis games. Ads are priced based on viewership. I guarantee you won’t see Alabama-Auburn, Auburn-Georgia, LSU-Alabama on ESPN+. The LHN is gone when TX joins the SEC. It saves ESPN money and the SEC won’t have a network for a single team. It won’t be SECN2 either.

Adding Texas and Oklahoma will greatly damage college football and the SEC too in my opinion. Adding others to form a mega-conference will destroy college football as we know it … and have known it all our lives. If all this ā€œprogressā€ happens, I’ll start spending a lot more of my time watching high school ball. I mean I already despise what the NFL has become and now it’s happening to the college game as well. Once it stops being a sport and becomes all business it offers nothing I want. I bleed Crimson and have for 55 years but the numerous changes coming so fast right on top of each other aren’t being thought through. And it’s always the unintended consequences that overwhelm the promises of what was to be.
