SECCG is just another elimination game….would be nice to win a conference championship, but it would be even nicer to have a home playoff game in the first round.

Back in the summer we had a thread running about the new tie-breaker rules. My feelings haven't changed; I don't like the conference set up because we'll end up with multiple conference champs. And, in the end, it'll fall down...WAY DOWN...the tie breaker rules lists.

We're looking at a conference with a good chance of having its championship game being decided by a random draw versus earning it on the field.

Does anyone else feel like the SEC has the feel it did in the late 90’s early 00’s as a league…..

Feels like a very good but inconsistent league/conference across the board????!!!??? Or is it just me???

I simply cannot root for the Viles in any game. Also, at the end of the day it might be an easier path for Bama to not be in the SEC championship game but this is Bama we should never back down from anything. If we fall sort so be it.

With that said all of this is putting the cart before the horse. We still have 3 games to go before it matters.

As much as I hate to say it because winning an SEC championship is an awesome accomplishment, already having two conference losses. I don’t even want to play for the SEC championship game. The way this playoff scenario is likely to shake out, you don’t want to take the chance of having a third conference loss.

Been around awhile….goal is state championship, SEC Championship, and then National Championship. Times/things are different now but the reason we are so involved is because of the satisfaction this brings to us. So, enjoy while you are able to!! May the best team win and let the chips fall where they may. Enjoy the ride, destiny will soon follow.

it evens out.... if you win the SEC champ game and win, you get a bye week in the playoff and 2 win two more tough games for the championship. If you are not in the SEC champ game, you have to win 3 tough games in a row for a championship.

Each scenario has it's benefits. Winning the SEC gives you a good break to a two game playoff. Not playing in the SEC gives a longer time at the end of the season to heal up and get ready for the 3 game playoff.

Each has it's cons. Winning the SEC requires beating a quality team at the end of the year where you might already be beat up. Winning the National championship with out the SEC championship will require a 3 game win stretch of quality teams.

I think it really comes down to how healthy you are at years end as to what is best for your team. If you are healthy, an SEC championship game is desired as it breaks up the 3 game stretch. 1 hard game for the SEC champ, 2 for the national championship later. If you are banged up at years end it may be beneficial to have the time to rest and recover and then hit it for a 3 game NC stretch.

The other possibility is you play in the SEC champ game and lose and still make the playoff. It would be good to still be in the playoff, but now you're playing 1 extra game on the season which makes it much harder.

Going by that, assuming Bama wins out, if UGA beats the Vols this weekend, we would be in the SECCG.

Would more than likely be an opponent that we haven’t faced in the SECCG also.
