Right. He still has around a hundred less carries, I believe, than Herschel Walker. That means something to running backs. They did it in less carries is a bragging point.

Yeah it's funny seeing the haters trying to use the "he played more games to pad his stats" card, when he Henry got more on less carries. Even with 86 attempts he's had in the last two weeks, Henry is still 50 carries behind Walker. That's another full game plus part of a second's worth of rushing attempts.

I don't think anyone is saying Walker wasn't one of the best backs in the history of the SEC. I hope no one is saying Henry isn't in that same category; "rarefied air," as Finebaum put it on SEC Now.
However, I do have one little issue that's semantics, I guess?
On the other hand, that means Walker had more carries in fewer games ... a tougher slate, would you agree?
Tebow's rushing TD's are equal to Henry's from two completely different positions in two completely different offenses. Does that make one more valuable than the other?

Maybe but more carries and less yards though, and it's not my intention to belittle what Walker did at all. All I know is that Henry came up 14 yards short of 2000 yards on less carries than Walker had to get 1891 and that is just as, if not more impressive to me. It's more of a counter argument to the "padding stats in extra games" argument that anti-Bama commenters like to bring up. I'm not trying to say that Henry is better, just that his season was.
As for Tebow, I've been a Tebow fan since his high school days and to me he's the best SEC player to lace em' up. The best I've seen anyway. The only SEC player who might have been more valuable to his team than him in recent memory(and IMO) is probably Cam Newton for auburn.
@Trob I get what you're saying. It's one of those circular arguments/discussions. More carries in fewer games leads me to think he'd be more banged up. Henry's getting more yards in less carries shows greater success per carry. Chalk one up for both sides, ya know?
With Walker one of the things I noticed about that '81 season is the level of competition UGA faced. I'm not talking about the changes we've seen in athletes since the '80's (yes, I think HW could play in today's game, FWIW.)
We've talked about how many teams UA has faced this season that have winning records. UGA, in their 11 regular season games in '81, played three teams with a record better than .500. They played one team that was ranked at the time of their game (reg season a 12-0, '81 Clemson team coached by one Danny Ford.
By the conclusion of the 1981 season, UGA played two teams that were ranked at the end of the year; Clemson and Pitt. UGA lost both games.
