Nothing worse than a thief. A lot of folks say nothing worse than a "rat", but I'd much rather respect a rat over someone who steals your stuff.
We had a similar situation very recently where we had multiple repair guys in our house and my wife's engagement and wedding rings went missing when she took them off to do dishes. Took matters into my own hands after the cops weren't particularly helpful, tracked the guy down, and we'll leave it at the guy will most likely never walk right again and the rings are back on my wife's finger. Nothing worse than someone stealing things that you put your hard earned money into and the significance of something mostly likely associated with something of value. To that, stealing anything from someone else is horrible.
