Scarbrough, team hear from Nick Saban after incident with UT fan
TUSCALOOSA -- After his 85-yard yard touchdown run at Tennessee, Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough ran up to a Vols fan wearing a Peyton Manning jersey, threw his right hand in his face and trotted back to the Crimson Tide sideline. Following Wednesdayās practice, head coach Nick Saban was asked about that incident and if he spoke with Scarbrough about it.
āI did talk to him. I talked to the whole team about it,ā Saban said Wednesday evening. āI donāt know what category you would put the conversation in, whether it was talking to or weāve talked about these elements of ass-chewings before. I donāt know where you categorize that one.
āBut look, thatās a young kid that needs people to look up to in the world, needs sports figures that he can sort of have some admiration for the way they carry themselves, the example they set, the things that they do. And that was not an action that actually contributed to that in any way, and itās not how we want our players to represent themselves, their family or the program.ā

Saban was not happy with the tailbackās post-score celebration, but he has liked what heās seen from him between the lines. Scarbrough rushed for a career-high 109 yards and the touchdown run on only five carries in his first career start this past Saturday. Outside of the celebration at Neyland Stadium, Scarbrough has played better during Alabamaās midseason stretch of games.
On the year, the sophomore back has rushed for 273 yards and five touchdowns on 43 carries (6.35-yard average), and on Wednesday, Saban continued his streak of comments suggesting Scarbrough will be used more in the offense.
āI think Bo has gotten better and better every week,ā Saban said. āI think heās playing with more and more confidence, probably has a little better understanding of whatās expected from him and heās made some really good plays. I think that probably contributes to him feeling pretty good about his progress heās making, the role that he has and the way he can contribute to the team.
āSo weāre happy with his development. We certainly need him. Heās got a lot of ability, and hopefully heāll continue to progress and play well for us.ā
Well we all knew it was coming!
