šŸˆ Say what you want about Blake, but watch this video a second and grab your hat ...

Thought the same thing when I saw it. He has had some bad throws but he has a great arm to work with. His issue right now has to do with confidence and decion making not his talent
You've heard the analogy about book knowledge and implementation, practical implementation? Fits him like a glove.

Looking again at Saturday, Barnett, may very well need to be groomed at the speed of a redshirt sophomore like McCarron, and frankly, that was pretty fast for the norm. Hurts advanced ability tp process the field and lead the team is very unusual.

I like him and it's REALLY good to have at least a competent QB as 2nd string, be that Jalen or Blake. In this league and with this Oline, one or the other may get knocked out of a series, game, season. It's actually the first time in years I've felt OK with both leading QBs. I think Blake would settle down if given the lead role, but it may take a game or two first... Jalen seems to be calmer and capable out of the gun, but also has some FR mistakes we see from time to time.

I'm sure both Lane and Nick know which one would/will give us the best chance to win and will work to that solution regardless... Roll Tide.

Add to his list of problems:
1)Lacks poise (doesn't deal with pressure well)
B) Ineffective leader

I think we forget that he's only a redshirtFR. Some of those things come with time. Jalen may have them young, but he's more the exception then norm in that area. Barnett could develop really well given the chance. Having said that, Jalen's progress may be quicker making it much harder for Blake to have too many opportunities. Ideally, I'd love to see him stick it out with Bama IF he is our #2, but reality is that he'll most likely transfer if that ends up the case. ATM, I don't think you can really say he's lost the #1 spot as I think Jalen will see a lot more in the coming weeks in regards to pressure. If he struggles against some stronger D-minded teams, I don't think Saban/Lane would wait too long to give Blake a go at it. Just my opinion, which may not be worth the 2 cents I have in my pockets...

This week rebel players are being very vocal about their intent. Put pressure on Hurts and keep it coming. That may not be earth shattering info, but they know we are starting a freshman and what they couldn't get done against a redshirt Frost, FSU QB in the second half they believe they can accomplish against Bama. Just hope Kiffin's over his butt chewing cause we are going to need a much better scheme and plenty of clarity in Oxford.

I think this week is pretty simple. They want to rattle Hurts and shut down the running game to force Hurts to make plays. Lots of single coverage across the field. Quick slants and screens could be the medicine for that.

Lane is 0-2 against Ole Miss (and more importantly his younger brother Chris). Do you think there is something Saban could say that would up the ante?

Can you see Hurts running some roll outs with short and medium passes across the field ? Amari Cooper style times 3? I'm thinking give him hot reads and let him quickly process just half the field.

I thought that was the beginning of the week-long message Saban was sending with the sideline outburst. We're hearing about players that literally have pictures of ole miss players on their workout equipment. But that's not the company line, we hear, it's business as usual. Anybody that thinks Saban doesn't obsess over 2 straight losses to Freeze should ask Les Miles. Beyond scheme, I don't think Saban changes his process message that much because it's really the perfect gameplan. But the anxiety level and sense of urgency I'm sure has increased dramatically this week on staff and with the players. Who's better than Saban in creating that climate?

I knew exactly what play you were referring to @TerryP when I read the title. That was a big league throw!! You have said it over and over, REPS REPS REPS!!!! Blake will only get better should Jalen have to come out for any period of time.

As someone posted earlier, I would expect Kiffin to move the pocket with Jalen in an attempt to help our Oline and put him in a RPO. Look for them to flood one side of the field with a deep route, intermediate route, and a short route. I would look for someone OJ, Ridley, Stewart, Dieter, etc. to be on a drag route. If they man up, that route will burn them ALL DAY LONG!!

Who thinks this week will be an outside screen and slant Bonanza? I think Ole siss will give a 10 yard cush or show press coverage and then back off pre snap. They are young and not super talented at corner right now and I think they would prefer a 10 yard gain to a 60 yard gain over the top. If we continually burn them out there and they have to shift help over.. then we will run it right at them.

I hope and pray that it all kind of comes together offensively and that out defense scores 2 or 3 times.. they due a few bounces against this team and I would love to embarrass that ole miss offense, Kelly and Freeze. Beat'em like they stole somethin'.
