I watched Tennessee Wesleyan College win and score 102 tonight. There are some serious shooters out there. Before you say it, I know the defenses are long and lanky in the SEC. It's easier to score in the NAIA. It just seems like if Bama could get a threat who can pop off a screen and hit three's, the Tide's offensive game would improve. I wonder what would happen if a team in the SEC took a chance and gave a scholarship or two to some players who could shoot the basketball? They might not be as tall or fast, but I think the game would change for the better.

Get some of those PG's out of Carver High School (defending State Champs if I'm not mistaken) or Hoover or MT Brook...Just anyone who can be consistent from the 3...That's how mid-major teams win games in the tournament, majority of them live and die from the 3, but they can't play defense

I really think this offense would be much better if we had Tony Mitchel though.

Sometimes I wonder what Bama looks for in players. It seems like they tend to try and recruit athletes who can play a little, as opposed to players who might be a little athletic. Check this out.

When I was in school at South Lamar we were the highest scoring team in the state almost yearly. AHSAA.com still lists us as 2nd all-time in ppg for a season with 106. All we did was run and bomb threes. We had a kid on that team that Bama wouldn't recruit because of his size. So what he did was he went to Mississippi State and was one of the "Big 3" with Eric Dampier and Donte Jones in the mid-90's. Those were some good teams.

His name was Daryl Wilson, and he was Alabama's Mr. Basketball his senior year. Went on to finish at or near the top of a number of SEC and NCAA shooting and 3-point shooting catagories. Bama wouldn't recruit him.

I know that's one player, but you see a ton of our best players go elsewhere for various reasons. Many of them are quite successful too. I miss Wimp. :chargrined:
