🏈 Sacks

5 against FIU

10 on the season in just 2 games. I believe it was only 26 sacks in 14 games last fall.

I'd say we have figured out how to pressure the opposing qb. Unfortunately, we can't figure out how to cover a kick.

I'm actually surprised it wasn't more than 5 tonight, they were killing that QB in the 2nd half. I almost (i said ALMOST) felt sorry for the guy, they were just blasting him.

Hightower is a beast from that Jack/DE position. I feel much more comfortable with him there than at LB. We struggled a lot last year against spread teams and in passing situations due to the lack of a pass rush. Seemed like we had a hard time in this game until Dont'a moved over to rush the passer.

Dont'a hasn't moved to the JACK in any game this season. Eryk Anders has been a constant in the backfield playing that position though.

I have been pleased with the pressure applied to the opposing QBs so far but also concerned that one of the Tide's Achilles' heel on defense was so openly exposed last night.

I guarantee you some of our future opponents will be drooling when they look at the success FIU had with the underneath routes.

FWIW, North Texas' opponents registered 25 sacks for 170 plus yards in 2008.

Would like to see the Tide defense rack up at least a half dozen next Saturday.

Gotcha.

I didn't necessarily mean the Jack position. I just noticed him lined up with a hand on the ground quite a few times. Weren't you the one who said we'd likely have 10 sack after this one compared to 26 all last year?
