🏈 Saban's mindset

I guess I'm in the minority here but I think the FG was a very good choice. As others have said there was no reason to think we could stop their running attack. We're on the road (sooner it's over the better). AJ had missed some open receivers and the receivers had been dropping balls right to them all day. Foster was raddled and couldn't be depended on for any field goals regardless of length in an OT. So why not give a kid who can make them from 60 a shot at 57 to win it and get off the field? Had it been good all the chatter today would be praising his wisdom. It just happened to not work, and had a totally unexpected outcome. The odds of what happened actually happening are about like picking winning lottery numbers.

It was not a mistake to try with 1 second left. If he makes it we win, if he doesn't, the clock expired and we go into overtime with AJ. The mistake was not covering the runner. The clock was going to run out anyway and had that happened AJ would have had a shot.

Not to try and hijack the thread, but I think Bamadrill might have been the same guy who went off after the 2009 IB and said that auburn was a bunch of demons from hell or some such. Birdman37 asked him if he had issues and told him to chill out, then he said something about "disrespecting a war vet" or something! The IB really brings out the nutcases! Every year, win, lose or draw, the Iron Bowl really brings out the crazies. After the 2010 Iron Bowl, there was a thread comparing Saban to Mike Shula of all things! Another poster named Krymzentyde started a thread titled "calling out nick" where he proceeded to "call out" Nick Saban! I dont know what game some of you were watching but I know based on the PERFORMANCE/EXECUTION/INTENSITY For 98% of the game, CNS KNEW OVERTIME WOULD SWING AUBURNS WAY!
Man up and PAY UP & SHOW THE APPRECIATION/RESPECT WE BAMA FANS OWE COACH SABAN! CNS DESERVES PAYMENT IN FULL...BECAUSE HE EARNED IT!

i agree. i did not want to go to overtime with them. we were not playing well and our defense was not stopping them as well as expected. plus there's the auburn magical crap factor.

i'm still reeling though that we didn't cover the return. i'm going to need a couple of whiskey benders and a bowl win to ease the pain.

There is some info the coaches had that fans do not. The decision was made with that info during the week, the "what if" part of their prep meetings. It WAS the best decision!
