Just a small summary of a couple of things...

-The practice did not have as much energy and intensity today... the guys struggled a little. That is part of it, but they need to be more consistent.

-Baron Huber (thigh bruise) is day-to-day.

-Jamie Christensen (pulled quad) is still day-to-day.

-Leigh Tiffin was the first team kicker even before Christensen got hurt. He has been consistent all through camp, but the competition has made both guys better and the decision (on the starter) isn't final yet.

-The situation (depth) at WR is good. There is a lot of competition there right now.

-Ali Sharrief is progressing at safety. He is a very good tackler, very physical, and very tough. He might not be totally confident in what he's doing yet, but more reps will help that. Saban asked him about moving back to RB (previously), and Sharrief said he preferred to remain at defensive back.

-Javier Arenas has played at multiple positions so far, specifically at corner and safety (to go along with his return duties). He adds some athleticism and speed to the safety depth. He is a strong tackler and good hitter, and should be a good contributor there.

Hmmm. Why do you suppose Saban asked him about returning to tailback?

He didn't say when he asked him, it might have been after spring, or it might have been after Taylor transferred and Goode got hurt at the start of camp. I would bet it was the latter though. That would make more sense.
