Former West Virginia quarterback Clint Trickett
Alabama football: Tide hire former West Virginia & Florida State QB Clint Trickett for ā€˜support role’

If you’ve been following college football for the last several years, you’ve probably heard the name Clint Trickett. Trickett was a quarterback at West Virginia after transferring in from Florida State, where he lost the starting competition to Jameis Winston. However, he retired from football before his senior season due to concussions. Since then, he’s gotten into coaching, including being the quarterbacks coach at East Mississippi Community College, the junior college featured on Netflix’s ā€œLast Chance U.ā€ Now, Trickett is adding to that resume, as he’s been hired Alabama serve in a ā€œsupport role,ā€ according to BamaOnline.com.

The exact nature of Trickett’s position is unclear at this time, but one would expect him to be working on the offensive side of the ball.

In addition to his on-field and coaching accomplishments, you may know Trickett for another, Alabama-related reason. Shortly before the Tide were set to take on Trickett’s Mountaineers in 2014, Trickett told reporters that Nick Saban’s daughter was his first kiss. Apparently that was not enough to keep Saban from bringing him on his staff.

@TerryP, wasn't there a discussion on here a couple years ago about Trickett at least joining us as a GA? I recall us discussing how he wanted to go into coaching. I think he had some concussion issues toward the tail end of his career.

Have you guys ever looked at that family in terms of coaching positions?

Everyone should be familiar with Rick considering how long he's been coaching. We're seeing Clint getting into the profession now. His other sons, Clint, Travis, and Chance, are all coaching as well.
