Same question goes for the Ol' Ball Coach and Florida in the 90's. He dominated like Coach Bryant did and like Saban is doing now. Did Spurrier ruin SEC football in the 90's?
1991
1993
1994
1996
2000
They would have been SEC Champs had they been eligible in 90

On a side note, did you know that since the inception of the SEC Conference Alabama is the only football team to win an SEC championship at least once a decade?

That's an amazing stat and this is mostly why teams feared Alabama when Coach Saban came aboard. I have tuned out the Cowherds of the sports world, knowing long ago they could never survive a healthy debate with the stuff they shovel at the general public. These days I tend to go local with my info as the season starts its kickoff. I have shut down all things on air ESPN except the ball games I want to see. I enjoy reading homer articles and everything that has to do with Alabama, whether accurate or not. And I miss Alf Van Hoose.

None of you has actually rebutted any of Cowherd's points.

We talk all the time about opposing coaches getting "processed" by Saban. Well this is one of Cowherd's points. You got 10-win-a-year coaches, Miles and Richt, getting axed due to poor showings against Saban. Don't forget Chizik getting fired only a year or two removed from a national title. When you have a dynasty in your neighborhood, rival programs panic. And the panic destabilizes their programs. Rather than panicking, Cowherd says that all these programs should have been satisfied with a sub .500 record against Saban. And all the coaching turnover has had a cumulative negative effect on the SEC's top programs.

He doesn't mention this, but I've also noticed increased success by the Big Ten in recruiting the Southeast over this time. All the coaching chaos (and disturbed recruiting networks) among SEC programs during Saban's tenure at Bama has resulted in the Big Ten's and ACC's gain.

What self-respecting Alabama football fan would be upset, lament, or generally give a rip if LSwho or the barners, or aggies, or gators, or bulldawgs or vols slip a notch or two, making our run to the playoffs that much easier? I hope he's right. But he didn't say it to be right, he said it to create controversy and sell his brand of clip bait sewage to the football masses. But you knew that.

How did the whole "S-E-C" chant originate? Did it not arise from the conference pride due to the amazing 20-plus year stretch of national championships by an unprecedented array of conference schools? So now Bama fans don't cheer on fellow conference schools in OOC games? I wasn't aware of this change in attitude ...

Yes, media personalities all spew BS at times to maintain an audience. We know this. However, this in no way negates the possibility of occasionally making sound arguments.

I would agree with Miles, Richt, and a few others that were 10 win a season coaches getting axed because of their fanbase, but Chizik wasn't very good EVEN with a Natty in 2010. 8-5 in '09 with a loss to BAMA, 14-0 in '10 with the crazy ass comeback, 8-5 in '11 with a skull dragging loss to BAMA, and 3-9 in '12 with another skull dragging loss to BAMA. He simply caught "lightning in a bottle" with $180K in '10.

I would say that the ability of the Big 10 to come into Southeast area and recruit is due more to a limit on scholarships and the extreme high level of football talent here. Georgia, Florida, Texas, some extent Alabama talent is pretty damn good and there aren't enough scholarships to keep them all home. The ACC has always recruited the South well. Once they added FSU and Miami, it increased the spotlight on the area.

Then why did you go to the trouble to mention SEC coaches that have been processed by Coach Saban?

Are you sure which SEC teams are doing all the chanting?

I went through the trouble because no one evidently had gone through the trouble to actually rebut Cowherd's arguments in their replies. I was trying to spoon feed you guys one of his more merited arguments relating to SEC coaching turnover.

Are you sure which SEC teams are doing all the chanting?
Every Bama fan I personally know ALWAYS roots for other SEC teams. Don't be ridiculous. All of us want our conference to be well represented, if for no other reason than to improve our strength of schedule.

Just on record...i Never root for Auburn, Tennessee, or Florida....most of time not for GA, SC,MS, Tx AnM, Ark.....sometimes not for MSU, KY, Missouri....sometimes I do root for Vandy....( love the underdog)....
When they all play each other....ummm...i have negative vibes

But the deal is, it's never priority one. First and foremost is winning the West and then the conference at all cost. When we lose a head to head, we're essentially 2 games back to that team. Not sure why I'd be even remotely interested in rooting on the upper tier of west division teams. And not even sure why you would be.

And this OOC schedule you keep bringing up, that's usually one decent team and 3 sisters of the poor. I mean how hard should I be shaking my SEC pom poms on essentially a one game season?

It's a very flawed argument about who has the best conference when that becomes the measuring stick. Not that that would stop Cowherd.

Never said it was. You're arguing against a Straw Man.

Duuuh ...

I'm not saying that you should. I'm saying that most fans do. Hell, when players are interviewed during bowl season, they even admit to cheering on their conference rivals to make their conference proud. I cannot believe I'm having to explain this to college football fans.

It's a very flawed argument about who has the best conference when that becomes the measuring stick. Not that that would stop Cowherd.
A flawed argument??? To measure conferences based on OOC results??? Well how the hell else do you compare conference strength?? LOL ... you even got Jimbo and Dabo both bragging about the ACC surpassing the SEC based on the ACC's results head-to-head against the SEC during the last several years.
