Anybody else reading between the lines and thinking that the team has been flat this week and Saban is hoping a little extra excitement from the crowd might be needed to get them out of their funk?
The player interviews I listed to yesterday, i came away with the impression the players are MAD about how they have been physically handled by the Croomdogs the last 2 years.
Crowds at BDS have a reputation for sitting on their hands. I know this has gotten better the last few years but BDS is not considered one of the louder stadiums out there. My take is that he senses the FANS have already assumed a win over the Croomdogs and hes trying to remind them that our team needs them as much this week as any other.
From Ian's column today:
Apparently an early caller made the mistake of assuming a win over Mississippi State. Oops. Saban's message much later: DON'T DO THAT!
"
Just like all the rest of you people (who say) on paper we should beat Mississippi State... " Saban said, getting worked up. "Well, our team has worked their tail off all the way from the bowl game. Aiight? They're tired, they're sore, they're beat up, they've played in hostile environments, They've done all that you can ask them to do in terms of being competitors in what they do."
"If our stadium on Saturday, I don't give a (guess the word here) who we're playing, better be what it oughta be (slamming his fist) because of what these guys have done!!" he continued. "I'm just telling you! It oughta be that. You gotta do it for them. Don't wait for the next game, how bout right now? Our crowd should have an effect on this game for our players and our team for what they've done. Now, you want to know how I feel? That's how I feel about it!! How do you feel about it?!!"
