Anybody else reading between the lines and thinking that the team has been flat this week and Saban is hoping a little extra excitement from the crowd might be needed to get them out of their funk?

Yes. Those were just my thoughts. I think he is seeing some "soft practices" and he wants our crowd to be the 12th man.

Unless, everything is peachy and he's just blowing smoke for the fans.

My thoughts (thats kinda to be expected with the team)

No, I think he is just tired of all the "should win" statements. Dont blame him.

everything that I have heard is basically that they have had a great week. I think it is more the recruiting war is tightening and we will have great recruits on campus per the earlier post and of course we have been beaten by MSU the last two years when everyone took for granted coming away with a win. This team has come way too far for a letdown. They have exceeded all expectations and the emotional high that I see out of this team and the fans should continue until we achieve the untimate goal.

I think this is the long and short of things. I think Coach Saban is still upset with that loss last year and wants to set things arights in that department.

The player interviews I listed to yesterday, i came away with the impression the players are MAD about how they have been physically handled by the Croomdogs the last 2 years.

Crowds at BDS have a reputation for sitting on their hands. I know this has gotten better the last few years but BDS is not considered one of the louder stadiums out there. My take is that he senses the FANS have already assumed a win over the Croomdogs and hes trying to remind them that our team needs them as much this week as any other.

From Ian's column today:
Apparently an early caller made the mistake of assuming a win over Mississippi State. Oops. Saban's message much later: DON'T DO THAT!

"Just like all the rest of you people (who say) on paper we should beat Mississippi State... " Saban said, getting worked up. "Well, our team has worked their tail off all the way from the bowl game. Aiight? They're tired, they're sore, they're beat up, they've played in hostile environments, They've done all that you can ask them to do in terms of being competitors in what they do."

"If our stadium on Saturday, I don't give a (guess the word here) who we're playing, better be what it oughta be (slamming his fist) because of what these guys have done!!" he continued. "I'm just telling you! It oughta be that. You gotta do it for them. Don't wait for the next game, how bout right now? Our crowd should have an effect on this game for our players and our team for what they've done. Now, you want to know how I feel? That's how I feel about it!! How do you feel about it?!!"

He's simply doing everything he can to win. He realizes, as we all do, how devastating it would be to lose, for the third straight time, to a Team with a 3-6 WL record.

I dunno how the team has practiced this week, maybe someone here can give us some insight. More importantly than our record, IMO, this team is hungry for revenge. They know what is at stake with this game, and they know how they have performed, better yet, NOT performed the last couple of meetings with the Bulldogs. I'm excited to see if we come out with the pedal to the floor, and keep it there. RTR, and thanks for sharing Lenny.

I think the team has been waiting all year for these last two games. I also think Saban wants the BDS crowd to be loud and disruptive to their offense and help pump the team up.
The team deserves it.
BDS is too quiet imo sometimes(even in big games). Fans need to learn to take it up another level as well.

The team has seen pictures of the MSU scoreboard plastered everywhere they go all season long. Emotionally, they'll be ready.

We are still banged up and tired, and that'll have it's bearing on aspects of this game...one of the reasons I think it'll be closer than what some might expect is due to the bumps and bruises...and just being tired.

Reports from practice have been good...crisp drills.

i know if i had any control over the jumbotron at the stadium that would show before alabama came out onto the field
