Gus Bus or David Shaw out at Stanford will be next on the list. Thanks for coming around Old Timer! Good luck in your search.
Maybe I'm wrong but I think Shaw is at his dream job currently.

I hope it isn't true. If it is, I think the dream is over for many Texas fans.
Congratulations Alabama fans.
So what kind of statement does this make nationally? Best HC in CFB just turned down the "oh so rich and powerful" Texas program to stay at Alabama.
You guys, even though you didn't get the SEC Championship this year... You guys have no idea how good you got it. And just because you think that other places and people have more money might mean they have it good... I'll be the first to tell you that just because a person, group, family, business, whatever has money, it doesn't mean they have it good.
With that said, I do have to eat a little crow. And it doesn't taste good. Swallowing one's pride does a lot for a man's humility. And if there is anything to be reinforced here, for myself and my sad Longhorn brethren, is that money isn't everything. It's highly important, but it's not everything.

This whole "Texas can buy whoever or whatever they want" shit has gotten extremely old. EXTREMELY. We get it, Texas has plenty of money, but guess what? That doesn't mean you can buy anything or everything they want, not everything or EVERYONE is for sale. If I hear that one more time I'm going to puke, its gotten to the point where Texas fans are more proud of how much money the school has than the product on the field. Thats your damn problem in a nutshell.
Some people might look at Sabanās new deal, which adds a year through the 2020 season and bumps his average annual salary above $7 million, and gasp. College football has never had a $6-million man. Saban was close, but he just high-jumped that threshold like Carl Lewis at the Olympics.

ESPN in the background, telling me pre-contract extension Saban is the highest paid coach by three thousand dollars over Mack Brown, followed Bielema and then Butch Jones at Tennessee. I like our return on investment. Scab's analogy of of a post-contract extension vaulting $6 mil for $7 mil isn't too back, if Carl Lewis was a high jumper. I think he long-jumped or sprinted past $6 mil.
I caught that as well, Tim, and ESPN's graphic is very deceiving. As we've talked about briefly here...Bielema's and Butch Jones contracts both reflect money given to them for their buyouts. It's far from a true figure.
I find it interesting that Franklin is getting roughly 3MM a year at Vandy and it's going to end up being less than half of what Saban will pull in...he's had a great run up there.
He did Long Jump though.:biggrin_blue:They need to get a guy that has a high profile job, has won a national championship, and who knows the in's and out's of the Texas situation. Someone like, well, ... Mack Brown.
Carl Lewis was also an excellent sprinter, but never high jumped.
