🏈 Ryan Day says Ohio State will need $13 million per season in NIL money to keep roster intact:

So, he has done the math and is making a call for supporters to ensure he meets that math. I find his comments to be less of a complaint and more of a plea for funds.
"Plea" stuck out to me. I see it as more of a directive and that may be a misnomer.

He said all of that at an event Ohio State launched to connect businesses with players. If Joe Businessman is already there ... 🤷‍♂️

OSU's AD pointed to "unscrupulous characters" when he was talking about the NIL. Day mentions a speed limit analogy and getting passed by—those "characters" going balls to the wall with payments.

I find myself thinking about how crazy all of this is right now especially looking back to conversations 10 years ago.

We discussed players unionizing or being designated as employees. I remember A LOT, the vast majority, of fans being 100% opposed.

Several times over the last decade fans have criticized state and federal government officials "sticking their nose" into college athletics: few wanted and approved their involvement.
Now where are we? The players have to unionize. The sport has to institute a CBA. The sport is now NFL lite; unregulated.

There's only so much money. I don't care if you have millions or even billionaire donors. How often are they going to give $1M plus for NIL or recruiting? They will definitely weight the benefits as @TerryP has stated. I still can't see $13M a year being able to continue, each year, per class, per school. I would imagine economics doesn't even support it.
