There were too many mistakes on players and coaches today to win a game. Coaches really need to learn how to scout teams, Indiana hasn't even gone off script on offense for most of the day. We only took them off script on the first drive when we forced them to throw. Then we settle back into soft zone since then and it's been an easy 4-5 yard run followed by a few downfield shots with soft coverage.
Defense getting outcoached there.
Offense failing to utilize it's own play makers. I saw a WR screen to Williams go for -2 because he set and didn't bubble out, he stayed inside and made the tackle super easy. HE goes wide there he's looking at 5-10 yards. 4th and 1 we don't have to say much, one of the dumbest calls in a while I've seen, why a jet sweep on 4th and 1? I mean, probably shouldn't be going for it, but at least do an inside run with the bruising back not a jet sweep with tight sets....once again if you condense the formation like that, it's very easy to guard anything outside...Grubb honestly has not shown me he's worth his salt this year. Watch the Indiana LBs on 2nd downs, they constantly step forward for the run...RPO them, force them into decisions...use TE seams over the middle if they step up throw it over their head for 10-15. Easy plays and easy dumps that can drive us down the field. Then if the safety steps up go over their heads deep. Running on 1st...needs to be at least sprinkled in, the OL play has been very bad and blocking from WR to TE have been bad also but please for the love of Bama Football, run to set-up some play action. Also why is Hill STILL not the featured back? He's literally the only back worth his salt back there, he's the only one getting consistently positive yardage and yet we refuse to feed him the rock.
DeBoer is safe and fine, but Grubb should be on a HOT seat next year and we desperately need some offensive staff turnover.
