I am actually excited about this year and the years to come for basketball... after a long walk in the wilderness maybe now we will be competitive again ...

I had high hopes for Grant , but it never materialized.

One thing you can say is that Avery Johnson aint playing about recruiting. If Saxton stays eligible (and stays for more than one year) he and this kid could def. be a problem in the SEC.

Collin Sexton Named to Cousy Award Watch List
Crimson Tide guard is one of six freshmen named to list

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama freshman guard Collin Sexton is one of 20 candidates
across the nation who were named to the 2018 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award
Watch List, which was announced on Monday by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall
of Fame.

Sexton is the first Alabama guard to be named to the watch list since Trevor
Releford was selected prior to the 2013-14 season.

Sexton, who was one of six freshmen and the only honoree from the Southeastern
Conference who was named to the list, was selected as a 2017 High School Second Team
All-American by the Naismith Hall of Fame. The Mableton, Ga., native was a consensus
top-10 player in the country coming out of Pebblebrook High School and was rated as
high as the No. 4 overall player in the nation (247Sports). In addition to his
Naismith honor, Sexton was tabbed as a McDonald's All-American and won the
McDonald's Jam Fest Dunk Contest, joining previous winners Carmelo Anthony, LeBron
James and Blake Griffin, among others.

Sexton also received international honors when he was named the MVP of the 2016 FIBA
U17 World Championships in Spain, where he led USA Basketball to the gold medal,
topping the team in both scoring and assists.

"These 20 student-athletes truly represent the best in the college game today, and
we are eager to see what they will achieve in the 2017-18 season," said John L.
Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame. "They exhibit many of the
characteristics that made Bob Cousy a tremendous player and floor general, and we
are pleased to be recognizing them."
By mid-February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2018 Bob Cousy Point Guard of
the Year Award will be narrowed to 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to
Mr. Cousy and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The winner of the 2018 Bob
Cousy Award will be presented at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show presented
by Wendy's in Los Angeles, Calif., on Friday, April 6, 2018. Broadcast information
will be released at a later date.

Nice thought on Sexton staying, likely doesn't happen unless he falls flat on his face.

Butler is felt to be the 'reload' for Sexton.

Great get for Johnson! Still has to sign, though.

Tidebits from basketball practice today

Sexton was far and away the best player on the court. He is extremely fast and a high motor. He shot very well.

-Petty oozes athleticism and potential. From what I've been told, he is elite and hasn't scratched the surface of his potential.

-Alex Reese and Daniel Giddens are very gifted big men. Both can reall shoot from midrange, and Reese has some nice 3 point touch. Something we have desperately lacked in years past.

-Braxton Key and Dazon Ingram have improved. I was told you can tell they worked hard over the summer.

-Herb Jones may have the highest ceiling on the team. I have no doubt that one of the six players NBA scouts said will be draftable was Herb. He has a very nice shot and a nice frame at 6'8. Watch for him to make an impact
