🏈 RICKS??

I saw him sitting on the bench with a towel over his head breathing like he had just gotten off the field. Other than that i couldn't tell you. the game as a whole had zero rhythm and was hard to watch. Penalties and injuries really made it a bad game to watch.

I've been saying this was an issue for awhile. The complexity of the defense is something people always talk about but if the shit is too complicated that really talented players aren't able to get on the field because of it - or just don't do well it - maybe it's time to change some of that.
Gotta set them up for success in the next level, if you dumb it down you end up with a defense who doesn't know how to adjust or change anything. Our defense has been great, 1 touchdown in 8 quarters is perfectly fine. The penalties are inexcusable, but that is easily correctable. Defense is not as big an issue as you all think it is. Yes we've given up some big plays but that's just good routes and catches. That little guy wasn't wide open on either long catch..he just made great grabs and one between two defenders that he dropped. Honestly think the defense has been really good so far, just that the offense didn't make the game one dimensional and the fact the offense couldn't sustain drives the D was starting to wear down a bit near the end.

I know it's the "if Colt didn't get hurt" Pt. 2 but if their starter remained in the game it would have been a whole lot more than one. It just the short time he was out there he was torching the hell out of this awful secondary. But regardless, there are plenty of defenses out there able to get guys ready for the NFL without being overly complicated.

Great for him, he also got rocked for holding the ball too long. Injuries happen, we can harp back on the if Jameson and Metchie hadn't been hurt last year "what if" scenarios all day long. Reality is he got hurt and we changed our scheme on defense to start adjusting to their routes. We played much better after that drive. Maybe not perfectly but definitely better. The issue was the 6 drives of offense that went for 23 yards in 25 plays...that's the big issue here man. Defense held them to about where a lot of people thought they'd be at. The offense was just not up to snuff this week and I attribute that to scheme, play calling, and an inexperienced OL. All three can be corrected with a few more games, sky hasn't fallen yet my man we changed things after Texas A&M last year and that OL might have been worse than this one. We can get it figured out.

I agree that the offense was arguably more of a problem after the QB that could actually throw the ball got put out but you're also right "woulda, coulda, shoulda." And I agree that the sky hasn't fallen in yet but it will once Alabama loses 2/3 games that they have no business losing this season.

Tough deal with Ricks. If he got beat out by Jackson... As a coach, you have to give that dude a chance to play through a few mistakes before yanking him. I believe Ricks also had the off-field issue as well, which may not have helped his cause?

It's a long season and eventually the right guys will be on the field. Jackson, Koolaid, and even Ricks have a lot to learn. Learning from mistakes is part of improving!

I still really like that CB group. Safeties too. Rough game against an A+ play caller... If KJ doesn't improve, I'm sure Ricks will see more snaps.

I agree with you, gotta give him a few chances, good lord knows we have with Kool-Aid. I think Arnold is the guy that needs to be manning one side no matter what at this point. He looks fast, aggressive, and knows what he's doing.
