🏈 Reuben Foster

A few here...

It's a story just like Duron Carter with me. I'm tired of all the hoopla around all of this.

He will get more attention at UGA from fans. Here he's just another athlete surrounded by 80 something athletes.

I don't see a correlation between being drafted in the 1st round or 2nd round and being more successful in the NFL. I just don't know that I agree that we are making guys more successful in the NFL than say UGA at the moment - not enough data (at least off the top of my head) that substantiates this.

It very well may be true (I'd like to think it is), but I know UGA has done well with guys in the draft under Richt.

In case I'm completely off base with what you are suggesting, what do you define succeeding at the next level?

I agree that Alabama currently gives athletes a solid foundation which should enable them to succeed in the NFL - and the track record for the draft speaks for itself the last few years. But none of this means they will succeed - which I think is the part of your statement I'm hung up on (gotta love the off season). Maybe Bama prepares guys more for what happens in the NFL than UGA, who knows...at the end of the day, its up to a few things as I see it as to whether that person succeeds - internal drive, timing, opportunity and how that person responds to the timing/opportunity.

I guess I see it like this, going to UGA does not equate to being unsuccessful in the NFL, just like getting drafted in the 1st/2nd round equates to being successful in the NFL. UGA has put a lot of talent in the NFL, as much as Bama historically. Will CNS put more NFL drafted talent into the NFL over Richt during the same time frame, very high probability.

Whatever the case, the kids should look at this as a business decision (as bad as that sounds). Which school prepares them for NFL and life after NFL, gets them drafted high, and gets them the pile of money they want playing a game. The NFL is a short lived job, so get the most you can out of it as quickly as you can. The numbers say most (like 60%+) of these guys end up busted shortly after its all done.

Here's one thought to take into consideration about UGA and Bama and the prospect of getting drafted.

Take Aaron Murray as one example. In his career, he's yet to beat a top 25 team in a game he's started. If we look at the record Richt has had over his time at UGA he doesn't do well when he's facing teams that are successful: by that I mean 8 wins or more.

But, there's no reason to assume Aaron won't get drafted. It's a heavy QB draft in 2013, but seeing him as a 3rd rounder seems like a strong possibility.

I don't think Todd Grantham's 3-4 is as complicated as Saban's so I don't know if he'll be as mentally prepared—as in the ability to catch on to playbooks in the league—as he would if he came to Alabama.

All that said, despite his location and choice of schools, Jarvis Jones is going to go early.

That article feels very UGA-homerish to me. A lot of reading between the lines. These kids are trolling. They haven't hinted at crap recently. Hell, Reuben has been a VERY frequent visitor to Auburn since moving from GA. Matthews was quoted a few weeks ago, after a visit to AU, saying we'd made him rethink his decision. Anytime a kid this young visits somewhere, he leaves talking them up.

The fact that Bo went along (not taken with) is ultimately irrelevant. They both have UGA offers, they know each other, why not travel together? That article says a whole lot of nothing.

The bottom line is, check a site from any team that offered that group and they'll find reasons to claim the players for themselves. As it stands, it is a bunch of teenagers enjoying the hell out of the attention they're getting, and rightfully so. We'll all know in February. Unless they're shutting it down and not taking anymore visits after they announce (again) then it still won't mean anything. I don't care if UGA brings in a 25 deep class of verbals with Reuben and the crew. These "dream team" scenarios rarely work out. And if UGA falls on their face this year (entirely possible) their stock will plummet with these kids. The fact is, Richt won't be the coach in these kids last year of eligibility.

If they go to UGA they'll be the next in a line of highly-rated classes that play just well enough to be relevant but not actually get anything. Hell I'm an AU fan and I'd choose Bama over UGA if I were them.

Fully expecting the Dawgs to fall on their face would make me feel better about our chances, except I think that story has been told over and over. No team blew up their preseason goals faster last year than Georgia.

I appreciate that vote of confidence Duder. That made me smile.

FWIW, you guys might recall, it was Crowell who was the main part of Georgia's first "Dream Team." Another of that group is one of the guys serving a four game suspension but I can't recall his name at this minute. Malcolm Mitchell was another and he's been progressing well in their program.
