📝 Reuben Foster and Trey Matthews

My guess?

With all the dramatic flair Reuben wants out of it.

I'm at the point, no I'm passed the point, of not paying attention to any of it anymore. It seems everyday there's a "breaking news" type of story from a UGA site, and Auburn site, and to some extent some Bama sites.

But, in the end, all remains the same.

Some have signed off on him, some still remain steadfast he's coming to Tuscaloosa. I see nothing more to do than just wait and see.

All of this has done one thing. It's made my desire to see an early signing period that much more intense.

I can't see a way that it is NOT disrespectful to one. If they don't sign with each other, then they have dissed each other. If they sign with UGA then Foster has dissed Bama. If they sign with Bama, UGA got dissed.

Their actions and words are a statement about Loyalty and Their Priorities. "Are you committed to your school?" or "
Are you committed to your friend?" Both can't be honored for both guys, and yet they are trying to sell that it can. In the end one of them will have to go back on their words.

We all know that sometimes kids just don't know. Sometime kids change their mind. This seems to be a case of I know that I don't know, but I'm going to say "I don't know" and "I know" because being forthright does not matter.

I guess one way to describe it is a "LeBron James" story in college football.

It's a group of four or five that think they can all get together and reap the rewards of being on the same team.

It doesn't work that way in college football.

Let him go off to UGA with his childhood friend! Win 7-9 games a year and never reach your full potential, get drafted around the late 2nd -3rd round. Come to BAMA, be in contention for a National Title every year your here and be a TOP 25 pick!!! Damn!!! The choice is pretty obvious!! My 11 year old son has said' "you have to be stupid to NOT go to BAMA!"

I don't think it will play out at all to be honest. They both say they're solidly committed to their schools. Wiggins and Tray committed to UGA are visiting AU this month, Tray with his dad in tow.

Reuben has scheduled a press conference for today at his high school.

Who knows anymore?

A high school kid scheduling a press conference at his school is flippin' ridiculous. Who the heck is there in the summer anyway? Who cares?

If he did that where I live, our lone sports reporter would climb out of his beat up Chevette with the passenger window that won't roll up and come waddling up to the doors of the gymnasium searching for the one that's unlocked, wander around the lobby with his big ol' camera dangling from his neck and carrying his notepad and cheap pen, and finally tell the kid to stand up against one of the walls for a quick picture. Then he'd say something like, "What's this all about?" but it would come out "Wassis luhbut" because that's the way he talks. Finally, when he got the scoop he'd tell him he'd try to get it in the paper within the next couple of days but it would come out something like "ah'llgeddit in inuhnex cupppla days cuz deeditor heez outta town" cause that's the way he talks.

And that's probably the way it should be.

Anyone else reminded of the Troop Taylor "snake-charmin, dropped something in my drink, voodoo, hex" creepiness that finally cleared itself out last season with Cyrus? If it is true that Best Friend Tray Mathews had not idea what Robert was going to say, after weeks of broadcasting that they would be joined at the hips in college, this is concerning for the young man (Foster).

Don't get me wrong, I think Robert is a talent, but regardless of where he ends up I dont see him making or breaking a team.

It is long ways to signing day which means that there are many nights to sleep on such a decision. The concern is that the young man will not be able to get away from the sales pitch to find out how he feels about the decision when not under the influence. (I'm picturing the "...but the deal is only good while you are here" pitch one can see while buying a car or a vacation timeshare.)

Regardless of the color jersey he wears, I hope the young man can live with his decision.

LBS, the kids' name is Rueben not Robert. You are correct in saying he will probably not get away from the sales pitch of Troopa! You have Troopa's son there and Luper's son there as well, constantly in his ear. I imagine they will become fast friends and will be eating together with the family.
