🏈 Report: Ole Miss four-star RB Swinney injured: Lost for the season?

The Ole MissRebels may have to look somewhere else to solve their glaring hole for a star running back, as reports indicate four-star recruit Eric Swinney has suffered an injury that will likely sideline him for the season.

According to 247Sports, Swinney was one of the top ranked players in the state of Georgia and among the elite running back prospects in the nation in 2015.

Ole Miss finished last season ranked 75th in rushing defense by averaging only 155 rushing yards a game last season and down to 143-yard average in SEC games.

With a yet to-be-determined new starting quarterback in Oxford this season, the Rebels are expected to lean on their ground game until a competent starter emerges. Now the running game will likely be missing a vital piece of the puzzle this season.

Whereas Bama is replacing 9 starters on offense, Ole Miss is returning 9 starters on offense including their RB and all 5 OL. Only team in the SEC to do so. With 3 guys (Dodson, Brazley, and Wilkins) with experience behind the starter Jaylen Walton, I seriously doubt that a true frosh would be a vital piece of the running game puzzle.

sad news... they are not looking good on offense. i think their defense can still keep them in a lot of games. they played lights out at times last year.

It looked like the lights were out when they played TCU. I was embarrassed for them and that defense that they nicknamed or what ever and then just got completely smoked. I have several ole Miss fans in my family and I couldn't wait to send them a little message after all the crap I heard after they beat us early in the year.

Running game puzzle. Looks like all the pieces were in place here.
