| FTBL Report: Dabo set to hire Garrett Riley

What would that be?

Specifically? No idea. But if he was on Saban's want list, a conversation would have been had before Riley accepted the Clemson job (and it sounds like that never happened). My guess is, Saban either has someone already lined up but is having to wait (which could explain why it has been very quiet), or more likely he has a list of other names and Riley wasn't on it. I will admit, a lot of folks thought he'd be a good fit, some even close to the program. Taking into account the reshaping we are seeing with the offensive line along with the bit of a pendulum swing we are expecting to see with overall offensive philosophy... it could lead one to think that the new guy carries a different background and playbook than Riley.

Lost a potential opportunity here. Not saying there aren't others, but I think Dabo got a good one before he was expensive and had a couple years before he sees if he can handle a head job.

Sure was hoping he would be at bama......

But....sure nick has a plan...always has....always ahead of everyone else

And Dabo has that young strong arm QB that needs grooming...

First and foremost, we need an answer to this question.

When Dabo fired Streeter, did he cry?

Dabo's coaching tree has turned into a weeping willow after being lauded a half of a decade ago.

YOU really do not like dabo....lol
What you don't realize here is the very thing a few of us were pointing out about Dabo, just happened. It just so happens we saw it two years ago, he's just seeing it now.

I told you about the weaknesses we were going to see from his staff—specifically on offense. It was pointed out how Streeter wasn't that good of a coach and how their offensive problems—again, specifically quarterback development—would rear its ugly head.

Literally, everything we told you about that staff and the team came true...but it's all about a dislike of Dabo.

And now, what are we left with here? My opinion of Dabo has a bearing on his coaching tree?

Shall we bring in Jeff Scott as an example? Tony Elliot? Hell, between the two they've managed four wins. Should we discuss Venables?

Nah, let's just set all of that aside and talk about Chad Morris. Oh damn, that's another branch on that tree.

As does Ty Simpson who I feel will win the job at QB for Alabama. And of course BOB is not the guy for that job. Never..Ever...But Dan Mullen would be. A terrific QB Coach, and an excellent play designer, creator, and play caller who can beat you in many different ways. Whether running it or throwing it,all the while creating mismatches whereever he can.

Would mullens get along with nick?
Be interesting....

No answer for that. I guess it would largely depend on if the waters are calm or choppy. I know this. Coach Mullen is one hell of a football Coach on the offensive side of the football, and specifically, handling and Coaching the QB...Plus he knows several ways how to play and a lot of ways to attack and exploit matchups. Can you just imagine,as just a small example, how he would implement Jalen Milroe into this offense,and/or Amari Niblack?...

is Riley what we would really want at Bama? I didn't really see anything from the TCU O that made me jealous... I think the biggest thing they had going for them was the grit of their qb...

I think he could relate as a younger guy that wants to open it up. He got their quarterback to the Heisman ceremony, receiver a first round grade and their back at 1,400 yards. Gotta look at what he could do with way more weapons than what he would have at TCU. Not saying he's the answer, but I think he's a young guy you can pay less and keep for a few years before he would want to move on to a head coaching opportunity.
