Report: Clemson suspends three players for Orange Bowl
The No. 4 Clemson Tigers have suspended three players -- wide receiver Deon Cain, tight end Jay Jay McCullough, and kicker Ammon Lakip -- for the Orange Bowl over a violation of team rules, ESPN Upstate's Price Atkinson reported Tuesday night.
All three players were sent home Tuesday afternoon after reportedly failing drug tests, according to Aaron Brenner of The Post & Courier.
Cain is having an impressive true freshman season, ranking second on the team in both receiving yards (582) and touchdowns (five) and third in receptions (34).
Lakip was suspended for the first three games of the season after he was arrested for DUI and possession of cocaine in June. He has handled kickoff duties for the Tigers this season and he's also 7-of-7 on extra points.
McCullough played just 98 snaps over 12 games
