Report: Chip Kelly visited with Alabama coaching staff

@PhillyGirl what do you think?

Chip Kelly has and will continue to be linked to coaching vacancies all across college football and the NFL.

Add Alabama to the list of schools, too.

The former Oregon and Philadelphia Eagles coach visited with the Alabama coaching staff earlier in the week in Tuscaloosa, Ala., according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.

Kelly was fired as the Eagles’ coach right before the team’s Week 17 showdown with the New York Giants, and has since been linked to a number of current NFL coaching vacancies.

In fact, Kelly has also been reportedly connected to some SEC positions as well, including at LSU and Texas A&M.

Whether there’s anything here between Kelly and Alabama remains to be seen, but it’s an interesting match. Nick Saban’s squads have generally utilized pro-style offenses, while Kelly is notorious for his fast-paced, spread-style attacks.

Lane Kiffin currently serves as Alabama’s offensive coordinator, so it’s a bit unclear what kind of role would be carved out for Kelly, should he join the staff. However, the Crimson Tide could make Kelly an offensive assistant and in line to replace Kiffin, who could be a hot head coaching target next year.

Or perhaps it is just a meeting of well-known coaches. We can only wait and see.

Good lord no... we all remember what happened when Kiffin was "visiting the staff"... That one turned out for the better IMO but no Kelly. This has to just be one of those times when Saban brings a speaker in to talk to the team because I dont see how Chips style would mesh with Saban in any way, shape, form, or fashion.

Kiffin came in for a specific purpose. CNS asked him to consult. He later invited him to be OC when it was known there would be an opening. Kelly has done no consulting and it's a little late for input on the game plan.

Do you really think that Kelly wants an assistant job?

Yeah, there's no way a coach that has a reputation as a prima donna offensive guru with NFL head coaching experience, who was also the head coach of a major west coast powerhouse college team would ever stoop to being Nick Saban's assistant at Alabama. LOL.

But, I really think you are correct in saying he wouldn't be interested in a position as an assistant. Kiffin's situation was much different.

who cares?

it's not like we can control what happens anyway.

so he came and visited and he talked to Coach Saban. so what?

what if Chip Kelly was there to pick Coach Saban's brain about some things. maybe about he went back to the college game after coaching in the nfl.

only those 2 know exactly why and what happened.
