šŸˆ Report: Alabama’s Lane Kiffin Interviewed For The Maryland Job

It's a tough call to say who may be next up. I'm concerned about many assistants after this season ends.
This year, there seems to be so many more "major" openings than in years past. I think there are several assistants' names on several lists.
But, for now, ROLL TIDE!!! Let's bring home #16.

You don't have to like the method, but the results haven't been too bad. IF he left, who would you think could do better and would have an interest?

I think with the amount of turnover taking place there will be several guys out there on the market and I am certain that Saban has a list of guys he wants. My guess is that he looks to the NFL ranks and picks a qb coach who is looking to position himself for a head coaching job.

Remember Saban has a scheme that he wants and these coordinators put their spin to it and call the plays. But our running game, running the zone read look out of the shotgun with almost zero chance the quarterback keeps it.. Is not as effective as it could be. Would much rather see us in the pistol with a full back.

We are winning in spite of kiffin's play calling not because of it.

Like I said he has done fine but I will be ok when he is gone.

Kirby Smart, Defensive Coordinator

The Scoop
under Saturday November 14
Maryland: Lane Kiffin interviewed for the Maryland opening earlier this week, according to Jeff Ermann of Maryland’s 247 site (who broke the news that Randy Edsall was being let go). Citing a source in Tuscaloosa, ā€œthe situation has run its courseā€ and Kiffin seems unlikely to return to Alabama in 2016. Update: Pete Thamel w Sports Illustrated reports that Ermann’s report is not correct. Per Thamel, Maryland has not spoken to Kiffin and has no plans to speak to him.

Coaching Openings:
  1. SunBelt - ULM head coach Todd Berry was fired on Nov. 14th
  2. SEC - Gary Pinkel (Missouri) will resign at the end of the season citing health reasons.
  3. ACC - Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer announced his plan to retire after the 2015-16 college football season

In spite of his game calling? I think your dislike for him is spewing your opinion or something. He's done great. There have been some calls that maybe I wouldn't have called, but the calls have been fine the execution hasn't.

I think no one should be able to have any interview until after the football season is over.

There's no rule against it, but no HC would allow it. Think about when you interviewed for a job. There's the preparation and then the interview. No coach has time for that during this part of the season. HC interviews can take hours or all day. Can you create a timeline of preparing for the interview, traveling to the interview, conducting the interview and then returning home while working for CNS and preparing for the next opponent?

Lol.. I think you meant skewing not spewing. But I have no dislike for Lane as I forgave him when he became a Bama coach. That being said I just don't like running game sets and he sometimes gets throw happy. It has worked some but it has cost us some too.

I dont know anyone who didn't think we should have kept running the ball against the Buckeyes. It cost us the game no doubt. Some of his ability to get Amari the ball won us a few games too.

I just prefer a tightends and full backs to be in the running game and stop the zone read crap. It works great with a running QB but isn't hard to figure out when there isn't. Could you imagine this year with a full back and Jim Macelwane calling plays? Or last year in the Ohio State game? Just saying Lane has done a great job recruiting but I will b glad to see some fresh blood at OC

If he stays I won't be broken hearted, I just hope he adjusts his scheme some.

Roll Tide.

I sure did mean skewing, iPhone's spell check crap.

I have questioned the game calling at times too, but I don't think his play calling is to blame for the Ohio State debacle. I mean running the ball would've ate up clock, but the offense gave us the lead (a big one at that) and our defensive scheme and defensive playing couldn't keep the lead.
