“Tana is making progress, Nico is making progress. We’ve really played Nico at both Mike (middle) and Will (weakside), so his learning curve is a little heavier than the rest of the guys,” Saban said. “But they’re all doing fine, and they’re all probably going to have to play at some point, and they might get an opportunity sooner than later, because this is going to be more of a game where they play more regular people where we won’t be in nickel all the time, so we’ll be playing our linebackers.”

And what exactly is meant by playing more "regular people" where we won't be in nickel all the time???? :headscratch:

And not to mention now Reamer is going back outside/strongside after being inside. I can't keep all the Sam's, Will's and Jack's straight much less the inside, outside, strongside and weakside. I just hope we get the right people doing the right thing on Sat. I can't imagine how much they must have to learn for Saban's schemes.

I would imagine he's referring to them prolly playing more 2 backs, 2 wide receiver, one tight end (maybe two at times) formations and less 3, 4, and 5 receiver sets which would mean we'll prolly be in our base 3-4 defense in place of nickel and dime alot.

And if you're having trouble keeping up with the linebackers names and what not which is understandable I would say just right it down so you'll know what's being said.
- WILL is weakside Inside Linebacker. (Dont'a's position when hes playing)
- MIKE is Middle Linebacker. (Ro's spot)
- SAM is Strongside Outside Linebacker. (Reamer's spot)
- JACK is the other Outside Backer and he's the LB/DE hybrid. (Anders spot)

one way easy to keep it up is the W and S. W is Will or Weakside Inside Backer and S is Sam or Strongside Outside Backer.

All that can be confusing, no doubt. I remember once in high school, Coach asked a new guy what position he played. The guy says, "I don't know, we just get out in the yard and choose up." It was great. We were undefeated that year.

lol yea it definitely can, we played a 5-3-3 defense in high school and even that could be confusing. I played Defensive Tackle but of course the Defensive End on my side, who was awesome, was also dumb as a brick so I had to tell him what to do on every play. lol it got annoying but having to keep up with his and my gaps and plays made it more confusing. i could just imagine if we played a 3-4 and he played JACK, good lord lmao
