šŸ“” Realignment News '23: After a weekend of conversations, there’s continued momentum toward the ACC adding Stanford, Cal and SMU

I guess SDSU won’t be joining the PacX
The new PAC broadcasting deal they were trying to strike would have paid PAC schools 20 million per year plus incentives. The buyout for SDSU to leave their conference, 34 million. (It's 17 million, but subject to being doubled without the proper notice.)

Their effort to form a new conference, in part, was to avoid that buyout. IE: "Let's just disband the whole thing."

SMU , Tulane, LATech and South Fla should be added..
In a conference that's struggling with revenue, let's add three teams that don't improve the bottom line? I don't understand the thought process here.

FWIW, I have serious doubts the ACC is going to send an invitation to Stanford after they've been rejected by a conference considered a step below theirs. On the other hand, I have to ask the question, "Are they looking for replacements schools because they already know schools like Clemson and FSU are on their way out?"

SMU has some very powerful people alumni.. all they need is a big stage to boost recruiting in Texas (bigly).. if given a bigger stage Tulane has New Orleans., then LSU wouldn’t be the only big game in the state… that would break LSU stranglehold in the state..New Orleans the Big Easy would bring recruits…South Florida would then compete for Florida athletes, if given a bigger stage… then they would play Miami and FSU… LA Tech well who knows…Maybe Houston?.. Florida Atlantic?

Yes, SMU has some money. Money doesn't bring fans nor does the money SMU has in its coffiers mean anything to other ACC schools. The worst school for attendance and viewership in the ACC is Boston College—a school who regularly brings more viewers to a TV set than SMU.

Tulane? They have four mens teams while the rest of the ACC averages twice that amount. They don't bring anything to the table except a stronger viewership than SMU. Suggesting Tulane to the ACC would put a dent in LSU's recruiting makes as much sense to me as UAB to the ACC would put a dent in Alabama or Auburn's recruiting. Yes, they would be sitting at the "big boys table," but even with the assistance of a booster seat they can't look other ACC schools in the eye.

Consider this:

It's Saturday night and you've got the choice between seeing Maryland play Cal or watching midget porn. You'd likely pick MSNBC News versus those two.

Midget porn sounds kind of interesting compared to the othersšŸ˜…

So where's the value of bringing those schools in if a Bama fan would rather watch midget porn versus football?
They are going to have to make another National championship series when the super conference finally forms… NIT or another division…otherwise football will slowly die off…Big Boy football will suffocate it…

That's something I've been advocating for years!! The move to G5 and P5 was a start. Culling some of these teams is progress. There are far too many programs who are solvent because of subsidies and associations versus success.
