🏈 Quick question about Bear Bryant

I was just watching ESPN and their mini shows about each team in preparation for the game and they had a story about Saban compared to Bear. Shocker I know. But they made a comment and showed a picture that I was wanting to seek the story behind. They showed Bear's resting place and said fans put pennies on his grave. Why do they do that? I have never heard of that, so I'm very curious.

Yeah its done a lot on people's graves, if you have ever heard of Grancer Harrison (Thirteen Alabama Ghosts and Jeffrey) there are pennies, nickels and dimes all over his tomb. I've seen it at other graves too, just people wanting their memory to live on (not sure how it got started tho)...

I got another question, what happened to Coach Bryant's tower? I know Perkins pulled it down and then either Curry or Stallings had it put back up, but is it still up?

Coach Bryant's tower is up and back in it's place overlooking the practice fields. NO ONE GOES UP!!!

Isn't it the responsibility of the family or cemetery to take care of the actual grave?

Usually the cemetery. It's referred to as "perpetual care." But, each cemetery has its own rules as to what is allowed and what "care" means. My father is buried in Arlington and plastic flowers are not allowed. Real flowers will be removed as soon as they begin to wilt. Maintenance of the grass, trees and bushes is constant. This isn't the case in other cemeteries.
