Was this the equivalent of Coach Bryant shocking the CFB world in 1971 by rolling out the wishbone in the opener at USC? I'm thinking hell yeah! I'm thinking he had this ace up the sleeve all year and had no intention of playing it until he absolutely had to. Probably wanted to throw it on the table during the barn game but he is not living in the barn's world. He is living in Bama's world and that game is not the largest game in Bama's world. Needed to save it for the largest game. Took a gamble he would make the CFP without the barn win.

Didn't need to use it in the Sugar Bowl. Again wanted to play it in the first half against UGA but knew 13 points could be overcome and to use it then would allow UGA to make halftime adjustments. Absolutely brilliant!!!

There's no way he held it against the Barn purposely... Butt hole was still clinched too tight at that point. Remember, there was a marginal chance of Alabama actually getting in after that loss. Had Wisconsin won, Tua would likely still be a nobody in the CF world.

I do think he held it against Clemson though... The defensive TD made Jalen's inability to pass downfield a non issue. Game was in control, no need to change QBs
