Probably a dumb one but gotta ask anyway. With all to the hoopla with the fishing trip coming out which we all heard about several months ago, and meeting with the NCAA last week, will Julio and Mark suit up against VT or will nothing come of this?

Unless I'm mistaken or something has changed, I'm pretty sure the NCAA cleared them of any wrong doing and said their were eligible to play. Guy wasn't a booster.

I guess the reason I ask is because I have never heard that they were cleared, only that our compliance office did not find any wrong doings and they sent it to the SEC and then someone with the compliance office met with the NCAA last week. I guess I am wounder if Bama would hold them out until a final ruling came or something. Watching the Cecil Hurst show seem to indicate that they are still looking into it.

agree, i haven't heard anything about them being cleared either. what we have heard is that our compliance dept has done their work and sent info to NCAA and SEC.

That is the proper procedure. But what about the report that Bama sent someone to Indianapolis?

I don't have time to find the article (try al.com), but supposedly that visit was proactive and probably above and beyond on our part. It was possibly more of a goodwill, we want to obey the rules with no misunderstandings, etc... visit than anything. It certainly wasn't requested or required.

Soooo, let me get this straight. UA didn't suspend either player or commit a secondary violation according to their research. Then that leads me to believe the only concern would be the monetary value of the trip. If the value has been repayed (which I thought I read had already been done) then the only concern is that the value must be over that NCAA magic $100 number.

The big issue will be if UA doesn't hear back from the SEC and/or NCAA before next Sat. What do you do then?
