🏈 Question about the Saban leaving rumors (No, I'm not perpetuating--it is bogus.)

I saw some info the other day saying that Saban would be contacted by Jerry Jones to replace Wade Phillips in Dallas after the season. Let me first say that I DO NOT believe this at all. I'm just curious as to whether you guys have heard anything and where the hell this stuff comes from?

I tried to Google it but the only thing I could really come up with were rumors from LAST DECEMBER. Clearly that never materialized either.

No, see, that rumor has been going on for awhile now.

Its a rumor rivals in the SEC started, itll probably get bigger around recruiting time.

But honestly, if Bill Parcels cant turn that team around, Saban probably wouldnt want to try.

I've heard it. but it's all BS IMO.
More wishfull thinking by the barn faithful.
That's been being thrown out there since he got off the plane in T-Town.
Next move nick Saban makes will be to Lake Burton.

I agree. Saban loves the college game and is better suited for it; no salary caps, no agents (well at least not supposed to be!), no prima-donna millionaire athletes. I think he stays at Bama until he retires. There may be an outside chance he pulls a Pete Carroll, but I think it's slim. I think CPC knew the hammer was about to fall at USC and that is a big reason why he gave the NFL another go. In today's game, it's unrealistic to think that any coach is going to stay anywhere forever. But I do think we get a good solid 10 years from CNS at least. Plus having just turned 59, how much more does he want to bounce around?

BTW, Duder.... What's your take on all the rumors having Gus Malzahn leaving after the season for a head coaching job. I've heard his name tossed out there for several. Any teeth to any of that?

I can see Malzahn leave Auburn for sure. I could also Dan Mullin at Miss state one more year, and then someone like Penn State or Miami try to get him. He's done a great job shaping up Miss State, and we shouldn't take them lightly in 2 weeks.

Any discussion of Saban leaving Alabama for any other job in America in football, is bogus and rumor-mongering.

Winning team coordinators, especially w/ Heisman winners, & especially w/ championship winners (if that happens) will always have coordinators in the rumor mill, if not legit, for head coaching jobs. IF, AU wins out, I'm totally certain he is gone. He is a head coach, that runs the offense, & being a coordinator was just the natural step he needed to take to get a head coach job somewhere.

I like 'Exhiled' thoughts above. Malzahn would be a good fit for Miami.

yet the rumors persist - in threads like this one - started by who again? ... a barner. :lance:

don't be fooled by simple-minded attempts at manipulation.

That's a rumor that has been going for a while. I don't put much stock into any "Saban leaving" rumor personally. Not that I beleive that Saban would never leave, because he could. I'm not dillusional like some of our fans that seem to think Tuscaloosa is the center of the world and no one in their right mind would ever leave, given the choice. Saban could leave, at some point. Most coaches leave at some point.

Having said that, I think Saban is in that point of his career where he knows it's going to soon be time to take a perminent vacation from the business. He's set right now, entrenched, and still at or near the top of college football. It would be hard for him to leave for a better situation in college, and I'm not sure he is looking to take on a project to build from the ground up. So I think it would be hard for him to leave right now.

I don't see him ever going back to the Pros unless it was for some unGodly amount of money. Even then it would be hard for him, considering he doesn't much care for the professional game.

As much as I appreciate an arbin's fan concern for our staff, I don't think he is going anywhere. Funny that you bring it up just in time for the end of the season before we play you guys. But I'm sure it's genuine concern for us. Soooooo, go back to your team's board and report that nobody is biting and you guys try to figure out another route to take Bama's eye off the ball, as far as kicking your asses. It's coming, my friend. I would be concerned about your own coaching staff. Typical barn crap.

A legitimate subject that was unfortunately broached by an Auburn fan.........but I do ask you give the guy a pass for thinking he is trying to stir up crap....look thru his post history and you may find he is one of the better posters on this site concrning knowledge and insight that is lost on 99% of the BARN TROLLS we encounter here.

Just saying.

The rumors come from AU, Tenn, and LSU posters on message boards. He had full control in Miami and left for less money. Why would he go back? Also, why the hell do people choose the Cowboys of all teams for him to go to? You think Saban is gonna for Jones? Hell, Jerry probably doesn't even want Saban after Parcells didn't work out.
