Does the number 12 that you always see on our helmet pictures represent the number of national championships we have? Or since so many of the great QBs wore that number?

It's what all the Great QB's have worn in past years.
So maybe McElroy... :D

I've seen 61 on many graphic helmets.

*EDIT*

I meant 65. But after looking at Google, there are many more with 12 on them. That is a good question.

I don't think it has anything to do with National Championships. I think it is because 12 is the most recognizable number in the history of Alabama Football.

Me too.

I don't remember where but I remember seeing helmets with 99 on them, and then some with 37 (Shaun?). But majority of them are 12. I always thought national championships.

In Bryant's day, 54 was the most famous number. It was enshrined by LeRoy Jordan, and coach always had a special player wearing it.

I think during the 1999 season they used the number 99 helmet. Just seems like that was right. Seemed like through the 90's they used the 90's on the helmet.

Think the 12 represents both NC's and players.

A pretty special person wore #55 as well. I would like to see ESPN and the other college football shows display a BAMA #55 helmet with their set props.

Gosh, I sure do miss DT. :(
