🏈 Prothro 10 years later

Still remember the gruesome way that leg looked right after he broke it. I remember it being said at the time that the surgery to set the broken bone was botched. I hope that after all of those operations his life takes a turn for the better.

i'll always remember 2 things about that game.

our very first play from scrimmage and that 87 yard bomb Brodie thew to Tyrone.

and the other play.

fate is a cruel, cruel mistress.

good to see he's doing well.

I had never thought about it until the article mentioned it. The career ending injury happened in the same end of the field, only a few yards apart, from where he made that unbelievable catch against Southern Miss.

Let's just all buy a car from him. Where is his place of work in Pelham?
I love Prothro's contributions to UA but there's no way in hell I'm buying a car from his employer, Drive Time Car Sales. (FWIW, those positions are not commission based.)

It's a secondary lender with Interest rates that go up into the high 20's (even though they'll advertise rates lower.) It's not a lot different than a place like Rent-A-Center. The chances a customer gets a car that's already been sold, repossessed, and then re-sold ... pretty damn high.

Hey come on now. How bad could it be? The last place I bought a car was in Louisiana from this guy.

That's a pretty long drive to make 6 days a week.

Odd that he's selling cars now, not that there is anything wrong with selling cars. You'd have to think his name would allow him to sell many bigger ticket items around the state. Ken Coley lived across the street from me for a few years when I was in my mid teens (I didn't live in a fancy house growing up, just a regular house in Grayson Valley/Chalkville area and his wife was smoking hot btw), want to say he was a sales guy at Caterpillar.

My family and I have met him several times ....all since his injury....1st time was when Clemson played us in the kickoff classic in Atlanta. He was signing autographs in Centennial park ....signed my sons jersey.....maybe it was 2008...not sure...met him twice since then at Bob's Victory grill in T town and once at a Tide/Tiger event here in East Alabama.
He seems like a very humble and accepting man...We certainly wish him the best......

Still one of the most exciting home games I've been to. The crowd was rocking that day, even at halftime. We never sat down from the opening play when our D took the field. Our D was stout that year. Then it all went silent. Terrible way for a fantastic kid and player to end his career.

On another note, speaking of crowd noise... I watched the UT game from the cabin in the mountains. Maybe something was wrong with my TV but the crowd noise was not coming through the speakers. Can you guys that went confirm that our crowd was loud and annoying when we were on D? It sure didn't sound like it. Then at church Sunday my UT friends that went to the game said they couldn't believe how quiet it was. Theyve been to the last 6 UT games in T-town and never heard it that quiet. Is it just me and them or were our fans really that quiet?
