get off your knees ref, you're blowing it!!!

That's not targeting.... and Derrick Henry isn't a defenseless player at that point.

I like to argue with data :D. You are partially right, he isn't a defenseless player by definition, but it clearly was targeting with the crown of the helmet.

Targeting and Making Forcible Contact With the Crown of the Helmet
ARTICLE 3. No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. When in question, it is a foul. (Rule 9-6) (A.R. 9-1-3-I) Targeting and Making
.....
Notes to Articles 9-1-3 and 9-1-4 Note 1: “Targeting” means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball. Some indicators of targeting include but are not limited to:
  • Launch—a player leaving his feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make contact in the head or neck area
  • A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground
  • Leading with helmet, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with contact at the head or neck area
  • Lowering the head before attacking by initiating contact with the crown of the helmet

Also, I noticed this one striking foul on the previous page....Fournette clearly violated this one, even though I don't think he "intended" to :)

Striking Fouls and Tripping
ARTICLE 2. a. No person subject to the rules shall strike an opponent with the knee; strike an opponent’s helmet (including the face mask), neck, face or any other part of the body with an extended forearm, elbow, locked hands, palm, fist, or the heel, back or side of the open hand; or gouge an opponent (A.R. 9-1-2-I).

I caught a thread talking about a statement/comment Fournette had made about Florida players gouging at his eyes.

I would point the ref's bias to the Face-Guarding Non Calls for the obvious, clear violations 1st on Ridley (he caught it) and then a bit later on Stewart (he did not hold on) (see Stewart at 2:04:00) Vern and Gary "Williams actually did a good job of coverage"?????

I thought that there were several times in the second half where an Aggie DL jumped ahead of the snap, but there was never a flag.

Also, Humphrey lost an interception when the replay official was slow in buzzing in. CBS had sufficient time to look at it before the ball was snapped again, but not the zebra in the booth.
