Consider this a very preliminary list for those of you heading to Fan Day on Sunday, primarily to show what positions players are playing.

Note: The following administrative groupings are primarily based on where players are lining up during the observation periods of practices, conversations we’ve had with those in the know and a little bit of guesswork. The groupings will remain a fluid work in progress throughout fall camp and regularly changed. Freshmen are automatically placed at the end unless we’re certain of otherwise or they appear to be working with a specific player during drills.

Offense

LT: Cyrus Kouandjio, Kellen Williams, Brandon Greene

LG: Chance Warmack, Alphonse Taylor
C: Barrett Jones, Ryan Kelly, Chad Lindsay

RG: Anthony Steen, Issac Luatua, Caleb Gulledge

RT: D.J. Fluker; Austin Shepherd, Arie Kouandjio

TE: Michael Williams, Malcolm Faciane

TE (H-back): Harrison Jones/Brian Vogler, Brent Calloway, Kurt Freitag
WR: Kenny Bell, DeAndrew White, Eddie Williams, Marvin Shinn, Cyrus Jones
WR: Kevin Norwood, Christion Jones, Amari Cooper; Chris Black; Danny Woodson Jr.,
QB: A.J. McCarron; Phillip Ely; Alec Morris; Blake Sims
RB: Eddie Lacy; Jalston Fowler, Dee Hart, T.J. Yeldon, Kenyan Drake

Defense

NG: Jesse Williams, Brandon Ivory, Wilson Love, Darren Lake

DE: Quinton Dial, Jeoffrey Pagan, LaMichael Fanning, William Ming, Dakota Ball, Korren Kirvin

DE: Damion Square, Ed Stinson, D.J. Pettway, Chris Bonds, Dalvin Tomlinson

MLB: Trey DePriest, Denzel Devall
WLB: Nico Johnson/C.J. Mosley, Reggie Ragland
JACK: Adrian Hubbard, Xzavier Dickson, Anthony Orr, Chris Bonds, Ryan Anderson

SLB: Tana Patrick, Jonathan Atchison, Dillon Lee

CB: Dee Milliner, Deion Belue, Jabriel Washington, Caleb Castille

CB: John Fulton, Travell Dixon, Bradley Sylve, Geno Smith

S: Robert Lester, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Nick Perry

S: Vinnie Sunseri, Landon Collins, Jarrick Williams

FYI, don't pay too much attention to the order of the wide receivers. There's going to be some serious competition there.
Also, Collins is paired with Ha-Ha as they appears to be working together at practice.

I am interested that Wilson Love is shown at NT. He is nowhere near as large as the others at that position. I wonder if he is being groomed for the Nick Gentry pass rushing role.

that's been my assumption too. i still love watching replays of Gentry blowing up the middle in the BCS championship.

Here's the thing. When it comes to an interior lineman and third down situations I think some might be thinking too much about Cody. With the move of Williams to the NT spot we're not looking at a loss of speed. And, it's important to remember how seldom we are in base on 3rd downs.

From what I understand, the focus right is more about which two DL's are going to fit in to our six man rotation. We've got four right now that pretty well have their positions solidified.

What intrigues me the most is who we have as the rushing end in the nickel and the two rushing ends in our dime.

Some might have a hard time wrapping their mind around this but it's something to consider. The way things are at this point I'm beginning to see our 3rd down situations in the nickel and dime a lot like what we saw in Saban's first year here: a rotation position. In the last four years it's been primarily if not totally the JACK in the nickel. Now, I'm beginning to sense we'll actually use a rotation of players.

Saban has said throughout his time here we really don't have a strong and free safety. I mention that because I believe we need to change our train of thought on what we see on the DL; changing the thought process to interior and rush.

I did see Love in high school (Mtn Brook versus Pelham) when he was 240 insted of 280. The Brookies lined him up at NT. The first half Pelham tried to block him with one man and he ate their center alive. The second half they tried to double him, but it was only marginally better. He kept spinning out of the double teams. I am looking forward to seeing him this fall.

I saw the name Caleb Castille on the list as a CB. I didn't know he was even there, hearing about his recruitment or anything. When did I miss his arrival?

Isn't he the one Tim said was the be best athlete of the Castille brothers?

How much eligibility does he have? Didn't he graduate in May 2010?

(My bad, missed the post above)

Thanks for the answers. I figured he must be a walk on. I just remember Tim Castille making a statement shortly after Simeon signed that their younger brother was the best athlete of them all.
