BOL Nuggets: Alabama nearing commitment?
UA hosted a new name, East Mississippi CC defensive tackle Jarran Reed, on an official visit this weekend. The 6-foot-4, 302-pounder opted to visit Tuscaloosa at the last minute after previously being slated to visit Kentucky, where one of his old JUCO coaches is currently on staff. The visit to UA made quite the impression on the Ole Miss commit with sources close to the situation indicating that UA has taken the lead with a decision possibly coming sooner rather than later. A commitment before the end of the week isn't out of the question. So far, Reed has been silent about his visit but that same source told us that he was going home to discuss everything with his mom.
Sources close to Ole Miss indicated that Rebels have been worried about being able to hold onto him since landing a commitment from five-star JUCO DT Lavon Hooks. Florida could be the toughest completion with Muschamp expected to go in-home with Reed this week. UNC could also factor in but Reed would have to choose to take additional classes that he would need for the ACC program.
