| CURRENT EVENTS Policy issues II: Abortion. Why is it higher now than it was before the SCOTUS ruling?

As you know, the ruling just vacated the Federal position, it didn't ban abortion. The U.S. is still performing between 900,000 and a million abortion procedures a year, a slight uptick. This doesn't capture the OTC day-after meds widely available. I was at a Walgreen's a few months ago on Sunday - small town Alabama - and the kid ahead of me bought several. I asked the clerk, "are those what I think they are?", and she said yes, that they sold tons of them.

Still, in terms of abortion procedures, almost forty percent of all abortion procedures occur in California, New York and Illinois, with around twenty-one percent of the national population. For those who say liberal states just can't seem to lead, take note. Every state is good at something.
