šŸ“” Police: LSU player kills man trying to rob him, teammate

Use of deadly force is approved when life or/and property are threatened....
But.... to use it...will affect a lot of things in your life afterwards....guilty or innocent.... justified or not...civilian or military....
....to say one thing...and to live the other....big difference...

I still can't wrap my head around this. You're selling some type of electronic, you have a gun in your car, and you let some stranger in your back seat effectively giving them the upper hand. Makes no sense at all.

Edwards-Helaire and Small were in the front seats of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck while Johnson was in the back seat, police said. But instead of making the transaction, Johnson is accused of pulling out a gun and demanding the football players’ belongings

that's the only bad part about this, on the part of the player(s). you don't EVER let anyone in your car (or house) that you don't know. and you especially don't let them get behind you. that just gives them the advantage and put you at a disadvantage. also, it gets them out of public view and witnesses will be hard-pressed to give an accurate account if anything goes wrong. and when the only witnesses to a crime are the criminal and the victim, unfortunately, more times than it should be, the criminal gets the benefit of any doubt.

granted, i've had training and studied tactics about certain situations so there are things i do and don't do regarding everything i do and everywhere i go. and i understand that not everyone thinks like that. but sometimes you just gotta have a little more common sense and know when something is probably a bad idea.

Sorry deadly physical force can only be used for defense against imminent threat of death or serious physical injury. You can not use deadly physical force to prevent theft.

Pfft.

What part about the robber brandishing a gun was NOT imminent?

Pretty clear cut.

Plus, Louisiana is a Stand Your Ground state. GTFO here with your libtard "retreat first" bullshit.

You can't shoot someone for theft was how I took his point AND that is how it works in Texas last I checked. You maybe found criminally innocent, but civilly it could be a different story. Why risk some jurors ruining your live over something that can be easily replaced.

Over 40 years of practicing criminal law gives some standing to my position on what the law is in Alabama. You can not kill someone because you think they are breaking the law. If we executed everyone that took something that did not belong to them we would certainly cull the herd. Robbery is theft with the use or threatened use of force and in many instances can be defended with deadly physical force. I was referencing Sgt’s comment about using deadly physical force to defend against ā€œthreat to life or PROPERTY

Mult- time he shoot the guy?

I'd shot till I knew he was dead, or until it was impossible for him to squeeze a round of at me and mtmy party.
Unfortunately you can’t do that. Once the threat is taken away, you better stop shooting because then the law is not in your favor. I just got my conceal carry permit.

Well the threat is not gonna cost me my life or my family's, so it will be neautralized. I'm not pumping a whole magazine into someone, but three or four shots to be sure ain't excessive. Hopefully I never have to deal with a situation like that though.

It's a bit odd to me that I'm not seeing "why did they have a gun" in this thread (and haven't in any other site I've read today) and in every other situation that's one of the main questions.

Maybe i am a pessimist....But i don't believe for a second that they were "buying an electronic device." If you do that you meet in a walmart parking lot and both step out of your car out in the open. Im sure it was weed or something else being purchased, that you don't want anyone seeing you buy...thus the reason he got in the car. Maybe the guy got greedy and pulled his weapon. wanted more than the cash. Player pulls piece and unloads. Then they stay, get rid of the drugs, and make up a story that they meet him to buy/sell a phone since everyone has one of those on them. Easy cover story as long as no drugs were recovered at the scene. Im sure this was a drug purchase gone bad.
