And this one I'm raising the bullshit flag upon:

The playoff committee will seed 4 of the 5 major conference champions anyway they want. They will not need any polls of any kind. Get used to it!

I'm of the opinion they'll use polls like the AP as a starting point.

IF we have a one loss team versus another one loss team at the end of the season, the point one team was regarded higher than the other will come into play.

I'm still in a wait and see mode with how this works out. The notion they're thinking they'll keep their votes/rankings private is going directly opposite the desire fans have for transparency in decision making processes. The mere suggestion they want to keep this secret will likely lead to a massive amount of distrust.

The word "non-champion", as found numerous times in the BCS selection criteria, is nowhere to be found in the Playoff Committee selection criteria.

The closest thing is this:

[h=3]Number of Teams to Be Ranked[/h]It is planned that the committee will rank 25 teams. If no champion of a non-contract conference is among that group of 25 teams, then the committee will rank additional teams.

Which tells me they will rank additional teams until they find a champion. Even in the non-contract group.

Here is all you need to know as to how they will select the teams:

[h=3]Principles[/h]The management committee has charged the selection committee to select the teams using a process that distinguishes among otherwise comparable teams by considering:

  • Conference championships won
  • Strength of schedule
  • Head-to-head competition
  • Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory)
  • Other relevant factors such as key injuries that may have affected a team's performance during the season or likely would affect its postseason performance

IOW, if this committee was in effect in 1956, then 2-8 ND would be in the playoff if Paul Hornung had been injured and not played during the 8 losses. The committee would have had the wherewithal to say that ND would have won those games if Hornung had played. Think not? He won the DAMN Heisman trophy in 1956.
